What bay area bouldering spots is doable between July - August?

Castle is miserable in the heat, any closer regions to the peninsula that has reasonable temps? |

Embrace the suck. Castle in summertime will make you strong. We used to always hit Castle anytime, with weekend trips to the Meadows or the East Side. I haven’t lived in the area since 2015. |

Castle all summer. Had a great time up there yesterday. Here are the tricks. Go early in the morning. Wear a sun hoodie to keep bugs out of your ears (no buzzing in ears is half the trick to ignoring them). Go early in the morning. Wear glasses to keep bugs out of your eyes - I have a pair of not-very-dark shades that work well in the forest. Go early in the morning. Wear your lightest long pants. Go early in the morning. If the flies are thick, ignore them and have a good time. They don't bite. If the mosquitos are out, put DEET on the underside of the brim of your hat (worn under your sun hoodie), maybe spray some on the hoodie shoulders and sleeves, and the back of your hands (I minimize DEET on skin and try to put it on clothing). Go early in the morning. Pay close attention to the weather - the closest actual data is Ben Lomond peak and it is a pretty good representation. A little wind - especially from north makes a big difference with the bugs. Have fun out there. |
