The easiest route involves 5.8 mixed climbing for somewhere around 1000' on that summit pinnacle. Combined with the significant vertical and objective hazard/difficulty of just getting to the base of the summit pinnacle (3000'+ of snow/rock/ice depending on conditions) is why it's been given that title by some. I'm sure there are other worthy candidates for hardest summit in NA but it's definitely up there.

Close, it's the other big massif in the alps.

What initially came to mind was Mt. Blanc du Tacul and Mt. Maudit from the Cosmiques but I knew that was not correct. The other two that come to mind are Castor and Pollux. 

Castor and Pollux is my bet too. If not I was thinking Breithorn Occidentale.

Very close but not quite, last hint is that there is something built on the summit of the peak on the right.
