Is Chongo Chuck still alive

Never met the guy but I feel like expecting Chongo to be a good friend at a life party is like asking Fred Becky for a ride to the airport in 2 weeks. Don’t count on it. 

Hell yeah Chongo! He's still been frequenting the Valley. A true rationalist who doesn't tolerate circular reasoning. (Creationist story up thread) . Guys got a good heart though, and lives life as authentically as he knows how. Major respect

At the lodge right now and he responded his blood pressure is 112/74 so I guess he’s pretty alive!

He says he’s gonna live to be 90, then he’s gonna be 91. He says he has 34 books in print and 11 more to write. Lots to gobble up!

Slacklined with him behind the lodge yesterday.  Then he took a nap under a tree.  Proud dad moment when my kid knew who he was and wanted a picture with him.

Ran into him in j tree a month ago-ish

Just ran into Chongo in camp 4.  Pretty awesome dude.  He has his books for sale on chongonation.org

Yes he is still alive. We saw him on the Valley Wide shuttle bus on Jan 4th 2024. His hair is the same, though mostly gone in the back. He is very thin... his big brown coat was very baggy. He has no teeth at all but still continually ate small handfuls of granola. He had a splint and bandages on his left hand ... one finger. He spoke to no one. 

Chongo’s an opinionated fellow. Definitely a walking case of Dunning-Kruger who lives a somewhat parasitic lifestyle, but he’s well intentioned. Most certainly an interesting mind, which formulates his legacy. Some people can be a bit put off by his eccentricities. Which I for one can only tolerate in small, well spaced doses.
