Lover's Leap snow conditions

anyone been up to the leap in the last week or so? Hows the campground/trail conditions looking from a snow perspective? Thanks in advance for any insights! |

Campground is closed and has snow in spots. FS did clear the road but the gate is closed. Could open for Memorial Day weekend at the earliest but we don't have any direct information/confirmation yet from EldoNF or Royal Elk. Trails are very wet; there is considerable snow on approach and especially descent from Main and East walls. Trail conditions require care and attention - please stay on trails. Walls are basically climbable though dirty as fire damage has greatly increased fine particulate runoff. As with ALL springs (now more than ever) please approach with care and attention for loose rock, runoff, unstable trees, trail erosion, wet rock, etc. This weeks weather has slowed the thaw but the Leap will likely be 'in condition' within a couple weeks. We'll be out doing trail work as the weather abates. |

Thanks for the detailed reply! Seems like it might be pushing it to head out this weekend; we'll likely just default out to the Valley and roll the dice for a first come first serve camp 4 spot. I Really Appreciate the response and maintenance efforts! -Jason |

Thanks livinontheledge! Any conditions insight on how the north side of hogsback is looking? |

Ill take some photos tomorrow but expect snow on approach/base. Knapsack often seeps some water down low in early season. I'd also recommend caution on Deception as those large detached blocks on P2 have been sliding considerably each winter the last couple of years - I haven't been up it yet to 'measure' this seasons' freeze/thaw travel... |
