Ultralight Edelrid Portaledge??

Was doing the usual browse online and came across this from edelrid ( edelrid.com/us-en/sport/cli…;variant=2707865) and was wondering if anyone here has used it. Seems to be almost impossible to find and there are no reviews/videos/posts that I could find on it. The weight looks absolutely insane for a standard ledge.

Thoughts?

Cool looking ledge

Must be really expensive, being done in all Dyneema....

I got real excited when I saw the weight, but then I saw the price...

WeighMyRack shows $1499 for just the ledge (no fly)

They made a long video demonstrating the ledge.

I really like the ability to do two or three point fixation to reduce swinging/tilting, especially for a light/fragile ledge which won't tolerate abrasion as well.  But I would want this feature on any ledge!

The user manual on their website has a QR code linking to the video. Seeing that it’s an unlisted video I guess they’re not trying to get the word out until it’s more widely available.

Some interesting ideas.  Always wished to have some custom oval tubing made, though the best orientation for oval would be angled in, long axis aligned with forces toward center.

looks pretty fragile, but that would be the case for any 3kg double ledge (unless a sub-ledge 2-person design, like Trapezium or Octapod, which are about that same weight). Seems fiddly to set up, with shallow spreader bar.  In windy conditions might be difficult to get corners aligned.

might have some applications for walls with perfectly flat wall bivy spots.  Probably G7 more reliable (and versatile) for lightest weight system.

(for reference, the ultralight titanium double I made for Great Trango Tower in 1992 weighed 3.4kg, the fly another 1.35 kg. But after 3 days buffeted by strong winds at 19,000 feet in a storm, I wouldn’t recommend going that light!  Materials were regular 420d pack cloth for bed, and 210d nylon for fly.  Tubes were 1” 0.028” titanium, and 6061-t6 block corners)

My recommendations for new designs:  (from Bigwalls, net open source Portaledge info)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
