About 14-15” in town through Friday, then about an inch of rain Friday night, turned back into snow before noon on Saturday…another 7-8” since then. CHP has chain requirements in place now.

Pretty big avalanche on the North Face. Everywhere’s looking pretty scary right now. On the bright side, Snow Creek will be good, which is a big difference from last year |

Nice pic! Who caught that? |
apogeewrote: Not sure. It’s been making its way around social media. Pretty sure it happened sometime yesterday |
Looks like it was taken maybe at the rest stop on I-10, or maybe over at Whitewater. Whoever got that pic was incredibly lucky! Edit: |

Is there road access to Humber Park? You think Lily Rock North gulley is skiable? |

Another foot last night, and the forecast is for another foot today. There should be good serac climbing below the Tahquitz Icefall very soon… Approach to the Trough |

apogeewrote: As the official Humber Park gate keeper, I can say the gate is locked. No time frame on opening. We have never seen the glacier advance this much, ever... |

It's about frickin' time they closed the highways- it's been a shitshow in town, and the highways have been filled with idjuts. Up until now, for some odd reason, there have been lots of closures over at Big Bear, but nothing over here. WTF? Edit to below: Equally as annoying and laughable are the idjuts in their shiny monster 4x4 trucks with spinner rims- they are the first ones to get stuck somewhere after they slid off the highway… |
I hate being on the hill when the idjuts show up to put snow on the roof of their tricked out Honda Civics |

Hoping to go up Friday to catch the conditions. How’s it looking up there actually? Temperatures seem good and I’d like to see if the trough will come in. |

It's a splitter day- the first in what seems like eternity. Temps are up in the 40's, and the west facing Trough is prolly getting lots of direct sun. If there's ice up there, it won't last long- forecast is clear, with warming temps. And yes, Humber Park is closed- parking anywhere in Fern Valley is going to tough, and can easily result in ticketing/towing. |

apogeewrote: So according to this logic the state highway and the state plows exist only to serve locals who chose to live in a place with issues sometimes. I propose that all the beach cities close to anyone who doesn't live there. |

"So according to this logic the state highway and the state plows exist only to serve locals who chose to live in a place with issues sometimes." Your logic, not mine. It's quite possible to visit a town and be cognizant of conditions and hazards, and be respectful of those who live in the area. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to happen too much of the time. |
