Anyone have a good experience with Black Diamond ropes recently?

FYI for those interested in trying Bluewater, they are typically discounted on eBay, 30-40% for previous years or discontinued models. I got exceptional life from my 9.2, never got fuzzy or soft spots but eventually started giving harder catches. I've got my eye on a beautiful 70m 9.1 bi-pattern, it's sitting in my cart but I don't need rope at all right now so I can't pull the trigger, lol.

Would you mind sharing seller's handle?

Mammut is owned by Swiss private equity. I don't think there's any rope manufacturer who could afford them. I think they just contract the labor out. Teufelberger makes a lot of good ropes including Maxim and Petzl (although I've also heard Edelrid makes them for Petzl).

...

Teufelberger 100% bought/took over Mammut and rope production for them, on mammuts equipment. They also took over new england ropes, thus they make the maxim line, but thats in the US.
This makes the idea that Lanex makes their ropes bogus.
Its still Mammut machines making Mammut ropes, but run by teufelberger.

I had a 70m BD and it was eh. The bigger issue was that it came from the factory about 30 feet short of an actual 70. I found this out when I almost got lowered off the end of the rope on a route that I had done plenty of times before. Glad I had a knot in the end

So sounds like they put a 60 instead of a 70 in your package eh?

Lanex strikes again! But really it does sound like Lanex has some QC issues with their white labeled brands. The people I know that use tendon ropes like them as much as any other brand if not more, and you don't seem to hear the same QC issues with their inhouse name.
Pure conjecture though.

Anyone have bad experience with Tendon ropes?

That's just plain fraud. Where did you buy it?

Straight from BD. They had me send it back and I got a gift card for the cost of it. But definitely never buying another BD rope

My info about Mammut came from someone with pretty extensive info about climbing ropes and equipment. I can’t verify their claim independently at the moment but at least some of their European ropes are manufactured in the Czech Republic (same as Lanex) while others even under the Teufelberger name are being made in the US by Maxim.

Regardless, I don’t find these new Czech ropes to be as good and durable as the earlier Swiss made Infinity/Tusk.

from Teufel's website:

Mammut is a massive company held by private equity. They make a lot more than ropes. (I'm sure you know this, just pointing out the obvious.) Mammut is not wholly owned by Teufelberger. That's all I was saying. (They're currently owned by Telemos Capital last I heard.) When Mammut outsourced rope production, they moved the same machines they had used into the Teufelberger factory into a new dedicated space in their rope factory (as I understand it any way).

I heard about Lanex now making their ropes from petzl logic here:

I don't have any personal knowledge, but he seems to have a connection and knows more than me. It also aligns with others' experiences that the ropes have changed recently and aren't the same as their previous Infinity line.

That screenshot from Teufelberger's website seems to show their history. Maybe in the past they produced ropes for them but no longer?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
