Line breaks appearing spontaneously when typing forum messages

When I'm typing forum messages using the android app (updated to the latest version), tons of line breaks keep appearing between paragraphs.  Within a few seconds of it starting, there will be dozens of empty line breaks between paragraphs, and they'll start appearing faster than I can delete them.

It's kind of like the accelerating expansion of spacetime between galaxies, but way more annoying to my everyday life.
