I’d like to go for a closer look at this, it caught my eye as a potentially fun sunny winter line with alpine feel not far from the car. Its up on the northeastern end past “sixth canyon”. I don’t know the crest well, or people who do, so thought I’d put this up here for any guidance or potential first hand knowledge. Also co-explorers, if inclined!

Went up for a look this afternoon, didnt quite get out to a full view. Snow still pretty unconsolidated so moving off skis is a lot of work. I left them at the X and trudged up higher, could see the upper parts of ridge and anything out of the sun is holding plenty of snow. Think it might need to wait for more melting days this year. Still intrigued! Took an hour to get here, about same elevation as ridge base:

Check out the AAJ.  There has been a lot of activity up there in recent years in addition to historic routes.

isn’t that the hot tuna tower the chicken of the sea?

Yes, but I hear some people have been pretty active all over the Wheeler so might be worth reaching out to those FA folks.  Report back on what you find!  I'd like to get up there April-May.

Thanks yeah I don’t suspect it’s gone unnoticed or ascended, but I think what I was looking at here is further north/east of all the documented stuff at least on MP, including tuna & mayfield. Will have to investigate…hopefully with better snow conditions later this month. Photo shows cluster of cleaner looking features there, with straight line of sixth canyon drainage on the left:

Richard Shore is indeed the man to ask, but honestly it would probably be a more fulfilling experience to just to keep on exploring it without any beta, stay safe, and have fun ;)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
