A Vegas dirtbags worst nightmare...

Well, you've surely heard of all of the break-ins at RR, and its friggin scary!! I had actually made up my mind to not climb there this year because of them. At one point I was thinking to post up in the Kraft parking lot and act as security on my rest days. My plans have changed though and my life has turned upside down a bit as my entire van has been stolen in Las Vegas along with every thing I own...

I hate asking for help, but this is a time I could really use it...it took the encouragement of friends and family for me to create a Gofundme page....heres the Link

Thanks for looking and please feel free to share on your socials or other networks...

Much love...

That sucks!  Losing your house and gear!

Was your van stolen from the Kraft Moutain lot or somewhere else?  I ask because your GF page said something about a storage facility lease.(FYI just because you signed a lease with some disclaimer doesn't always me you have lost all chance at compensation)

I am a local and often park in Kraft so I am curious about the details.  I hope LVPD is on the case.

Levity aside, storage places aren’t liable, don’t leave things there without your own insurance.

Terrible man. Theives should be locked in cages with rattlesnakes. I hope you bounce back with a bigger and better setup.

After having my motorcycle stolen, I looked into vehicle trackers. I would encourage all of you van dwellers to put those in your vehicles. Now the police will not simply go fetch your van for you, which is pretty lame, but you now can locate it. What you do with the thieves is up to you and your posse.

This kind of blew my mind when we had a tractor stolen a few years ago. A neighbor of the thieves saw them unloading it and told us about it the next day when they heard we’d had a tractor stolen. Forwarded the information to the police and they pretty much said “with a police report you should be able to recoup the loss with your insurance” and left it at that.

I believe they call that the "Thin Blue Line".

Honestly the whole thing reeks of organized crime. All of the stories I’m hearing are quite similar with the reactions of the police, or facilities. Which is essentially “These things happen all the time, it’s no big deal”

This creates a vicious circle which allows it to keep on happening. Thieves know they won’t be investigated thoroughly and continue what they do…ahh’Merika…ain’t it great!!??!!

That's why you don't need a permit to carry in Ky. Police have deputized everyone in the state. They like football too, ya know? No time for "infestigations", bro.

When my van was stolen in Reno last year the Highway Patrol who recovered it said it was probably organized crime.  It was found with a few other vans in Sacramento.  They said it was probably destined for a shipping container to be sent out of the country.  Thankfully the thieves are at least professionals and didn’t even break any windows.  They just cut the gasket on a fixed window and gently pried it open enough to get to the door lock.  Then they unbolted the drive line and then put it on a trailer to move it.

I was pretty sure it was gone  forever but it was recovered a few days after it was stolen.  Only thing that was taken was some old fixes draws I’d taken off of a route recently.

Hope you have a similar story to tell soon!

I heard from park staff about a bust last year inside the loop.  Supposedly the police tracked a group from the airport and arrested them exiting the 3rd pullout.

Jesus, Mikey,

Same here, no broken windows. The insurance company has called and it looks like they’re giving up, and moving it to an unrecovered theft. It’s seems everything is long gone, security cameras only go back about a month, I was gone for 6/7 weeks…

On the bright side this gives me time to do some reassessment in my life, visit some friends and family, decided what’s next and come back stronger.

Thanks to anyone who’s read this post and or donated to my fund!!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
