Where's all the World Wall footage?
|

I'm sure there are videos floating around of some of the cool climbs, but I can't find them. Well, any except for Audrey's Lost Horizons video, which spends like 3 seconds on some other routes and 10 seconds on Lost Horizons: youtube.com/watch?v=7qJ_Tm1…; So where are they? Links would be appreciated. Do I need to go recruit some crushers and record some videos myself? |

Do it! We could never find any videos. A simple phone recording of giant got 3500 views this year. If you wanna record a human slinky I am your guy, though I still need to send reptiles! |

Jacob Posnerwrote: How is that possible? There's Google. YouTube has a search function. There's bittorrent. |

Princess Puppy Lovrwrote: Oh. I had no idea there is something called the World Wall. My bad. Added edit to get around the post limit:
Didn't even see that it was in a regional forum. Something that's frequently missed in MP threads. And I stand by my posts and don't delete them, even when incorrect! |

Marc801 Cwrote: Then why did you post in this thread? --- Anyway, back to OP: there's minor bits and pieces of video floating around Instagram too. Not nearly as searchable though. Micah's Instagram page is worth checking out. It's mostly still photography rather than video, but he's a great photographer and there's a lot of world wall on there. Showcases World Wall well. |

Princess Puppy Lovrwrote: Lol. I do need to figure out the logistics (like how to get up there in the first place to hang a rope) but I'm down to meet up. The days are getting quite short now but maybe we'll still have some nice non-rainy weekend? Or I can try to get out there any non-Tuesday afternoon. I'd like to start with some of the 5.12s I know, like Bust the Move, Propaganda, or Psychosomatic, but would be amenable to any of the 5.12s or harder. Of course, for a video the climb doesn't need to be in one go -- although the resulting videos would make more sense if I record some climbs with really good rests in the middle. Also even though you replied, this arrangement is open to others as well! As long as you're willing to give me some time to faff around on a rope and not expecting award-winning climbing cinematography, I think it would be a good time. |

I tried to make a GoPro video of Lay of The Land a few weeks after sending, but by then the top was wet, I took and didn't post it :) I was thinking about bringing it to World Wall but feel too self conscious being the weakest climber on the wall most days. Could be an easy option for crushers... Some decent videos of the central section with relatively minimal effort could be recorded from the ledge at start of Megatherion. |

Well here's a new video of Bust the Move: https://youtu.be/UzK1YViEgG0 I also recorded Wiley climbing Psycho-wussy and will post that soon. I had fun figuring out rope management stuff and lead rope solo aiding permadraws to get set up! |

Ha, that beta is very different from what I've seen - nice video! |

saign charlesteinwrote: I've only once had the pleasure of seeing anyone do that section of the climb, and I couldn't really tell what he was doing. For what it's worth, this is the only way I could find through the crux. I spent a non-trivial amount of time working through the other ways (including using the undercling and the left side of that cutout in the rock) and they all felt significantly harder. And then I just passed on this weird beta to my climbing partner, who's in the video. |

Jacob Posnerwrote: Seems like it works. I think most people use the two undercling sidepull things. At least that’s what I do, and a few other people I’ve seen on it all seem to use a variation, but all centered around those two holds. I actually sent the video to a friend who was trying it, because I think that beta fits his style more than mine. Cheers |

Jacob Posnerwrote: Great work I didn’t even notice some of those holds on either route! |
