New Sportiva "G-Tech" Ice Boots?
|
|
While shopping BackcountryGear.com's 48-hour sale yesterday, I noticed new Sportiva G-Tech mountaineering boots. I checked both their North American and European sites, but no "G-Tech" is listed ... yet. Anyone seen these before? |

No but thanks a lot, now I want them! They'll put my G2 Evos to shame! For Fall 22: The G-Tech is a four-season winter climbing boot that excels in complex terrain, and with a weight of just 620 grams, it sets a new benchmark for the category. Retailing at $769, this boot is the perfect blend of ultralight construction, durable materials, and elite performance, making it the best option on the market for alpine routes that feature ice or mixed climbing. |

How warm would these be compared to the g5 boots? I love my g5 and the g2 evo boots-but need something right in the middle ……. |

|
Funny they didn't even try to make it sound different than the phantom techs |

Seems odd to put the Boa dial outside of the gaiter, like an invitation to break it off. |

Another option for your drooling pleasure: https://www.thenorthface.com/en-us/womens/collections/summit-series-c324773/summit-torre-egger-futurelight-boots-pNF0A52RE?color=KX9 Seems really cool actually, and nice to have an alternative to the Arcteryx removable liner boots. It remains to be seen if the execution is good though. |

John Thomsonwrote: They actually moved the Boa to the outside on the G2 and G5 as they were wearing thru the gaiter. Plus it’s allot more convenient on the outside to adjust if walking or climbing. I went from the original G5 to the G5 Evo and it’s a huge improvement. FYI I’ve had Boa‘s on mountain bike shoes and snowshoes for years. Haven’t broken one yet. |

These look like a technical ice version of the Aequilibrium mountaineering boots. |

NateCwrote: Yeah. Don’t think they will be warm enough for cold conditions. So I wonder how they compare in warmth to the nepals? |
|

La sportiva claims that if g5 evo is a 10 , the g-tech is a 9 , same as nepals |

Yes I've seen them, super cool. They are incredibly light and the guys from la sportiva told me also very warm, in between the phantom tech and G5 in warmth. Very interesting product, they also told me it's gonna retail for around 600€ in italy |

This catalog (someone posted it in another thread) has some info on the boot. Page 196 is g-tech. https://issuu.com/mountainblogit/docs/catalogue_fw22-23_eng

Cool catalog. On another note it looks like the tx3 is out of the line up for next year. |

Climbing Magazine Writes this about the g-tech " Lots of brands make mountain boots, but few do it well. La Sportiva continues to deliver. The G-Tech is an ultralight boot with lightweight insulation, so it won’t be your main workhorse for colder temps or when you anticipate standing around belaying for hours. However, in moderate conditions where movement is more continuous than not, it’s a standout home run. Its agile, low profile enables the most precise foot placements on techy ice and mixed pitches, and the carbon insole walks better than any other ice boot in our quiver. Overall, The lightweight, svelte construction elicited a comparison to putting on rock shoes after climbing in approach shoes—so much so that by the end of a trip to Cody, Wyoming, our testers were fighting over who got to wear them. Other highlights: the external BOA fit adjustment system that’s effortless to operate in gloves for on-the-go adjustments. The wraparound, full-coverage gaiter provides a huge warmth return for its weight (and frankly is a must have for any mountain boot these days as far as we’re concerned)." |

So, I'm looking to get a new pair of boots for NH in winter (maybe some ice on occasion). Anyone know pros and cons of these vs say, mont blancs and cubes? Going to be trying on boots in a couple weeks and want to make sure I don't leave anything out. Saw these on their official site yesterday. |
