Edit: they gave me back my #2!

Edit: they dropped the cam off with my friend the other day. Thanks to those who helped me get in touch with the folks I lent it to!

Yesterday a couple (they said they were from Germany, and the woman’s name was Josie/Jodie, I didn’t get the name of the other) approached me at the Pat and Jack parking lot on Saturday morning asking to borrow a #2 cam. I said yes, told them where I’d be the rest of the day (Five and Dime), and we agreed that they’d leave it at my car hidden under the wheel by 1pm. The cam was not there when I went back to my car at 2pm nor when I left for the day at 4:30pm. I’m open to the idea that there’s an innocent explanation to this, but right now it feels like I got scammed. So, if anyone knows these folks (they said they were staying in Camp 4) tell them to give me my #2 back! (Also, if someone fitting this description asks to borrow any of your gear, I cannot recommend that you do so)

bump. it will be found bro! Always loan and share gear. If it truly is malicious intent I will chip in 20$ for the replacement.

Come on man, this is the way things get done. It takes a village to climb some routes here. We stash cams at the base of routes, swing on each others ropes, and support one another. The Valley magic still exists and the community is trustworthy. I just met a German couple at work, It wasn't Josie but they said they know her. hopefully it will be resolved today.

Same.  Dude did a good thing.  I can afford $20.  Benevolence and trust is becoming a rarity these days and it shouldn’t be penalized.

I doubt they wanted to steal his cam. But they should be going out of their way to try and return it.

That’s pretty much how I feel too. My main reason for posting this was so they could find me more easily, if they are actually trying to do so

@Ryan and @Jake—I appreciate your generosity, though it won’t be necessary—I lent them an older cam that I bootied earlier this year, so it’s not that I’m missing a really valuable piece of gear. Just a bummer to try to help someone out and it have it play out this way

Absolutely.  Like to help if I can.

maybe they did return it and some other dirtbag noticed it and bootied it

Yeah, that’s also a possibility

This may be your cam (although it's a different size and different location):

Thanks FrankPS! I think this is the person I lent the cam to

From the Camp 4 message board. This was innocent.
