Summer bouldering in Chatt

I’ll be in Chatt for about a week in early August, and I’m looking for advice on how to manage the heat while bouldering. I have the Chattbloc and Stone Fort guides; are there areas included in those that have better tree coverage? Can I check in at Stone Fort early in the morning? Any spots where night climbing is possible for a non-local?

I realize August isn’t an ideal time to be bouldering in Chatt, but I’m considering moving there and have time off between jobs to check it out.

Previous Stone Fort ownership never had an issue with night climbing, not sure with the new management. Grimace and A Face in the Crowd stay pretty cool and are shaded @ Stone Fort.  Vapor Lock roof @ Laurel Snow/Dayton Pocket is not bad for a quick session during the summer (only open during the day). You'll get gassed quick in the heat, so anywhere with creeks to swim in nearby is usually a good idea.

Thanks. Does Vapor Lock roof stay dry in the rain?

I climbed until 9 in Stone Fort a couple months ago. I borrowed the guidebook and they just put a bag on the check in door asking for it back since it was after hours. I don't know if they enforce no night climbing past that, but it didn't seem like it mattered. As long as the rock isn't wet, I think you'll still climb hard and enjoy it. Thats my opinion though.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
