Last time you came to steamboat I was living there.  What a shit show you guys caused.    You trashed the forrest area last time.... also living on the medians in the middle of the highway, dumpster diving, begging for food is the start... steamboat was stupid enough to throw you guys a free spearhead concert, hopefully they learned their lesson last time.

Didn't one of yours go to the Supreme Court for steeling food from a restaurant dumpster behind sweet pea?!

Go somewhere else.... I'll be the dick to say you guys are not really welcome.

The public pays for cleanup of these events. There was a gathering in NM last summer that required repairs to the Forest which were handled by a Type II Incident Team.

Um, you just quoted two articles that noted that the R F provides the labor for the clean up, which is apparently self directed by the hippies themselves.  One article quotes that they "clean up better than most campers" according to the Ranger. Im so confused. So they're a good thing?

The public pays for industrial cleanups, fire fighting in the gated hills of CA, for the floods every 5 years, for brownfield remediation, etc etc etc. too

A month? Why do I think that the NFS limits camping to 2 weeks? Has that changed?

So, that's justification to have responsible citizens pay for an illegal party?

Just provides yet another example that Taxation is Theft. As does toxic mine cleanups.

Government alleviates being held accountable and thus leads to a irresponsible society

How do you propose paying for shared services that benefit all citizens? Consider things like:

  • roads
  • fire fighting
  • policing
  • water and sewers
  • garbage removal
  • snowplowing
  • toxic mine cleanups resulting from bankrupt companies
  • et al......

Mostly via privatization. The huge difference between State and the Market is accountability. There is none from the State.  Not saying corporations are benevolent, but the shit they get away with is an aspect of the corporatist Statism we have as a result from the Duopoly.  Corporations are formed specifically to shield the principals from liability, and it is the State that grants them that immunity.

I travel on a privatised highway a lot for work. It is vastly better than the Interstates. My water comes from a privatized utility. I pay for monthly trash removal. Police are Statist entities with heavy union involvement and state-granted qualified immunity. Look at how fantastic they've been lately without ramifications. Chauvin was an anomaly. Policing needs to be reformed via community contracting which includes serious punishments for malfeasance.

In a minarchist world, individuals are held accountable to a much, much greater degree. Including corporate officers. The motivation to do the right thing is enhanced by the desire to survive.

In a minarchist world, the land the Wooks are about to trash has some form of vested ownership from the local community. Their use of the land would have a lot of requirements, such as clean up. By coercion if necessary.

Is it "A camp" or "B camp" that is the less hippy-ish, more straight-up drug addicted, homeless section of the rainbow camping? Whichever it is, that group of people is probably going to explode at least two meth-van operations in the woods.

so many camps and kitchens as the gathering is a place for all humans

true the rainbow hippies tend to only do organic earth made drugs and live with integrity

the gathering will include gutter punks and "drainbows" and wookies that might be doing synthetic drugs and stealing peoples back packing gear, do not leave things unattended, get to a kitchen and camp next to trusted friends

Ah yes, the real reason the country is polluted isn't negligent corporations thinking they won't get caught (or the penalty won't be severe enough) it's....the government! Yeah, that checks out. If I knew there were a 0% chance I got caught dumping toxic chemicals in a lake or pumping them out of my factory instead of a 10% chance, I definitely wouldn't be even more incentivized not to give a shit about the environment. Explain to me how the Almighty Market is going to disincentivize shit like this because I for one am glad the EPA is preventing them from continuing to dump this carcinogenic colorless odorless gas out of their exhaust pipes into my neighborhood.

Of all the braindead libertarian takes, I think we've got a winner.

Hey man, if you dig a hole deep enough that shit will just stay there, no one will know.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
