Yo! Looking to meet some like minded people to climb with.

34yo male, work in tech on the biz side by day, based near Lafayette, psyched on music, a good read, traveling, dogs (got two pups that sometimes come cragging), discussions about life, psychology, business, science, spiritual practices, to name a few. Left leaning moderate and while I’m opinionated, I’m generally pretty accepting of other people’s point of views and love a good open ended talk; Got friends on both sides of the political aisle. My sense of humor is broad and at times edgy. Yea, I like to goof off and get along best with folks who are grounded in kindness but aren’t shy to paint outside of the lines with a joke.

Always psyched on cross training and moonboarding. Free on week day late afternoons yo to and week ends

I could be psyched on..

Alpine trad: 5.6-510 this summer maybe higher this fall if the fitness and belaytionship are there. Black wall and lumpy have me interested

Sport : 5.10 up to 5.13- projects and multi pitch

Trad: up to 5.12- but not where I’d want to jump back in. Going to the creek would be cool this fall.

Boulders: up to V8 projects maybe v9 if the style is right. My skin doesn’t do well in temps above 50-60 degrees so I hang back when it’s this hot out or go higher up into the alpine. Recently went to vedauwoo for crack bouldering and i want check that out more

Commercial gyms: only psyched on lead climbing but flexible if it’s a social gathering

That’s me in a nut shell. Lmk if you want to connect

Hey Johan

I'm looking for partners the too. 35 in tech based in Boulder. Pretty much same climbing range as you. I generally prefer Trad but am happy to climb sport as well. Bouldering isn't my jam though.

Would love to get out this weekend somewhere local if you're around. DM me if you want to figure something out.

I am looking to get outside to climb more with new people. I like Bouldering, sport and trad.

I can be flexible with climbing on weekdays every once and a while.

25yo, climb similar grades and would be psyched to get out!   Politics have nothing to do with holding a rope but it appears OP is looking for friends too (see title of post) and often friends discuss politics and life and shit etc.

Johann, all,

I'm looking for a partner to join my group of 3 for a RMNP June 24th~27th. Reservations at the boulder field. Looking to climb the diamond or at least climb in that area. Mainly interested in getting some experience with alpine climbing.

About me - I'm fairly new to trad, climbing 5.9/5.10. Been sport climbing for longer (projecting 12's). Message me if you're interested.

Chandler

Hi Johann,

I am going to be in Denver few days at the beginning of July, specifically landing on Saturday July 2nd at night from NY and leaving on Wednesday 6th early afternoon.

I wonder if you would like to climb together on Monday 4th and/or Tuesday 5th. Please let me know!

So far I only lead sport, but I am a good second in trad, if it counts. I have good experience climbing outdoors and I am also a multipitches lover!

What does talking about politics, got to do with holding a rope?

Prefer to get to know people for who they are, not just hold a rope. That’s the point my man

Matt S, Chris, Matt J and Alex I’ll DM you guys. Also need get back to the folks who DMed me. I appreciate you all reaching out!

Chandler, personally I’d rather do some trad with less commitment than on the Diamond as a first time with someone but I’m sure you can find someone who’s comfortable with that!

Daniela, I’ll be out of town during those dates but hopefully you can sync up with someone from this thread.

Cheers!

Do everyone a favor and and don’t talk about politics on a climbing site. There are a million places for that.

I don't think Johann was out of line here. It sounded more like he was placing himself on the political continuum as a way to attract like-minded folks (or weed out the diametrically opposed?) Which is a pretty good idea IMO, considering how divided we are. What a buzz kill when you find out on the approach trail that one of you is an anti-vaxxer anti-abortion pro-Trumpist and the other is a masked-up AOC fan who thinks Biden was elected fair and square. (or just imagine your own hellscape scenario).

Its not like we need to talk politics when we're outside, but it happens, and right now it's just easier (for some of us, me especially) to talk to like-minded folks until we gain the civility and social tools to figure out how to talk to the other side.

IMO: the idea that discussing politics, religion and money is taboo is the problem with our society

So you like to avoid people that you disagree with on a few political issues? Sounds like a great way to get better at getting along with and understanding people you don’t agree with.  Civility starts with you and me and it can start now.

Wow. Looks like you guys have been having fun while I was away! Like I said, I have friends who are on both sides of the political aisle and some are extreme in their views, others are moderate, but one thing they all have in common is that they know how hold space for opinions that are different from there’s.

Life is short, spend your time wisely, and to those of you that got dismissive or sour: try not to jump to conclusions without clarifying first. There’s a lot of context you aren’t getting over a forum

Hi Johann -

I just posted in CO partner forum as well. Similar goals although your ability level is higher.  Seems like you have plenty of options but if you're still looking check out my post and maybe we can connect.
