Does the avy gear pocket really fit a full shovel? Looks like that'd be tough in such a small pack. If you could take a pic with shovel + probe on it and then let me see how much room there is for other things then I'd probably take it off your hands...

Yes, it fits a fairly standard size shovel and probe in the outer pocket. I have a BCA B1 EXT shovel (with a 16" long handle) and Stealth 240 probe (also 16" long) and they both fit together easily. I also have a Stealth 270 Probe which is a bit longer when folded, and while it does not fit in the outer pocket, there is a sleeve in the main pocket that is made for both a probe and a shovel handle, and it fits well in there with the shovel handle. The pack is about 20" long but the avy gear pocket is more like 17" long as the crampon/skin pocket at the bottom eats into its space a bit. The outer pocket is actually designed to hold the shovel blade plus repair kit/first aid kit and the probe and shovel handle are supposed to go in the sleeve in the main pocket. It's a full 28L pack, and holds more than you'd think but is really light as well. Will easily hold food, water, puffy, shell, and avy gear for an all day tour.
