progress capture for 3-5mm cord?

Does anyone make a progress capture device for accessory cord? I've used a tibloc down to 4mm but that's really pushing it.

I’ve used a microtraxion with 5mil, which is definitely under spec, but I used it for hauling a 30L haul bag.

I then used the 5 mil cord as a pull cord after a rap, and put the microtrax on the line to help gain purchase on the thin cord to pull the thicker, lead line through the rings. I never had any slippage.

I’ve never used it in a life-and-death situation.

CamLock X2

With paracord you don't have to thread the excess through, just push a bight through the hole.

The Edelrid Spoc bites well on cord down to 3mm, I had just tested this the other day. The Nano and Micro Traxions work down to at least 5mm, maybe a bit smaller, but don't work on 3mm.

I've used a micro on a 4mm. Works fine if the micro is new. Sometimes you have to pull the 4mm down a little to get it to bite. I haven't tested the nano trax yet.

Garda hitch. Or locking Munter.

CT Roll'N'Lock holds on "5mm diamond braid polyester" according to this test by Alonso Goes.

I’ve also used 3mm amsteel on the spoc. Works fine.

Thank you! I'll look into this device!

For a 3mm it's difficult to find a pair of biners that will reliably work. I've only seen this done using rap rings which of course you can't unclip and have to run the entire cord through. That leaves unrated fiddly biners that may break if hauling as little as 20lb.

A pair of old-school (non-forgend beam shape) ovals seemed to work fine here with 2.5mm cord.

The Slyde worked using it in figure 8 sport mode, and wrapping  the carabiner as many times as needed on this 3mm.

I can also confirm the CT Rollnlock works on 5mm and is a little more confidence-inspiring than using a toothed ascender/progress capture. The Micro Traxion works well because the pulley part helps keep the teeth engaged. The Tibloc is sketchy as all hell on 5mm and needs a fat carabiner to keep the teeth engaged well.

Eh, when I'm stance drilling the last thing I need is something this fidgety.

Yeah, I've been using it on 4mm and it's less than ideal. My backup plan was to make a mini Gibbs ascender in a metal shop.

You generally do that on 3mm cord?

Probably connected to a hook for positioning. I’m sure he has a full-sized rope as well.

I'm not on the cord, but the bolt kit doesn't weigh enough to justify anything thicker. Here I'm using a 4mm haul line with a tibloc

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
