Curious to know to what people would be willing to pay for a Silent Partner?

I have looked at recent sales on ebay, so that gives me some idea and I do have an account but I don't really want to give up $50-100 by selling it there.

Is it considered poor practice to do a silent auction on MP gear swap??

Condition matters. If it's in excellent condition I think you could ask for an even grand on here. Yes, you are correct that MP is not the place for auctions.

I saw one sell on eBay for $10 so I’ll offer $15.

You can find out the answer to your question in 6days17hours on eBay. Current high bid is $520.00 free shipping on a visibly used SP.

Why isn't it the place for auctions? A thread of willing bidders? Winner pays an amount they are happy about, and may pay less than they would. Seller may get more than the minimum they would have taken, because few of us are experts on used gear market value.  Real question, no snark.

I find nothing wrong with someone putting up an item for sale and saying that they are taking offers. Anyone interested can post an offer or message the seller directly. Those that are not interested or have something against "auctions" on MP can simply ignore the thread.

omg, pay lots of money to faff with complicated gear and rope management by myself? THAT SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN! I'll trade you all of my climbing friends!

I used to be in a group that evolved from silent eBay style bidding to a raffle style exchange. Before you jump to negative thoughts about this just read the rest of the post and really think about it.
In this group people had things similar to a Silent partner. These items were once a very affordable and desirable product but due to the limited number produced, years that have passed since they were available, and an increase in desire for them now you have something worth about 5x the original MSRP. Sellers knew they had something rare, very valuable, and knew it could easily sell for that inflated price. However now and then people would feel strange about that inflation and wanted to provide an opportunity that allowed them get that value while providing it to others at a POTENTIALLY affordable rate. The raffle was born!
Say you want to get 1000$ for your silent partner. Offer 10 raffle tickets for 100$ a pop. You get what you want for it and someone gets an SP for potentially as low as 100.

That sounds a whole lot like having 9 people help pay for one persons good fortune with the money going to someone’s pocket instead of helping out like a raffle typically does.
