I was talking to a guide this winter and he commented that the additional front point next to the main monopoint on the G20 (small horizontal) and the bladerunner (2 vertical) interfere with penetration of the main point since the smaller points are chopping the ice away compared to the dart or stinger with only the monopoint. This would occur on cold brittle ice and not plastic ice.

Thoughts?

After using Bladerunners and then switching to Darts, I think I agree. Yes, maybe I am over- kicking but... whatever, I like to have as deep of penetration as possible ;) It especially holds true after sharpening the blade runner points a couple times... the secondaries are not much shorter than the primary point.

I feel like perhaps the stingers , Cyborgs and the older generation Alpinist pro are all a bit stickier than bladerunners???  havent gotten my foot stuck in the ice yet with the blade runners....  that has happened numerous times with Stingers, Cyborgs and a few times with the older alpinist pro.

This is an issue for the Blade Runner.  I recommend either sharpening the secondary vertical front points (so they penetrate better) or removing them.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
