You need a WA alpine partner come spring/summer season hit me up and we'll go crush peaks and drink light beer. Seems to work for my woes, maybe it will work for you?

That seems like true spiritual healing.

I PM'd a bunch of folks and tried to reply to messages. I won't keep bumping this post up for too long, can't make it too much of an eyesore for the "for sale" section, but I'd obviously love to find someone interested in the rings. Thanks for all the advice and kind words!

You posted earlier saying Zion is occupying a lot of your mind. I live super close to the park. Come down and climb sometime! I have nothing to offer except for a potential couch to crash on and a belay/rope gun for you.

Sam I feel your pain.  The love of my life gave up on me around Christmas 2018.  I can‘t say that I blame her, but I’d give anything to get her back.  With no direction, I have thrown myself fully into climbing since then.  The climbing since then has been fantastic, but I’m still empty and numb.  I guess its a trade off.  Now I just resort to developing routes and occasionally naming one after her.   mountainproject.com/route/1…

I wish you peace and understanding.

I feel like you could sling those things through the ring loop and use them as small chocks.

Best of luck with your emotional healing. A good breakup can, in the end, bring a lot of happiness. All personal growth work pays good dividends in the long run.

A Sunday bump because I have faith in this community to rehome these rings. And I would also like to get them out of my hands. Its a win win for both of us.

Thanks, homies. It's been amazing to hear from so many people. I was out of town climbing for the weekend, but back in service and responded to some messages. Keep me in mind whenever all your friends are talking about getting hitched but too cheap to buy a ring. I'll cut you in on the profits if you help me sling my rings

If it's worth anything - Marriage is for raising children. Anyone who tells you else wise doesn't know what they're talking about. The only reason to make a permanent agreement to be in a partners life is when children will be a factor in the near future - Otherwise it makes no sense to sacrifice your personal freedoms and potentially wreck your finances.

If you're interested in marrying, find a woman who wants to be a mother more than anything. Once those talks start coming up about kids, make the move towards engagement. Until then, avoid marriage and commitments that will needlessly add restrictions to your life that are unnecessary and can result in huge financial or legal setbacks.

Other then that - It seems you're doing the whole dating thing right and I don't see any reason for a major shift in your lifestyle.

Hmm, idk man. I appreciate the insights but I just don't think its necessarily the best answer. Its also quite unique to each individual, lots of different views to have.

All of that to say, has anyone heard that I'm trying to pawn these rings off ;) I'm big wall dreamin' and wanting to go desert questing with some newfound gear from parting with the heavy burden im carrying from these rings.

What about marriage for health insurance or financial benefits?

I would say those benefits are small compared to potential losses. For example, my wife and I lose money if we file jointly in our taxes.

50% chance of shooting yourself in the foot to get benefits isn’t a great financial plan.

Awesome post, Sam; I like the way you're looking for humor in it.  One person said she did you a favor.  That might sound severe, but it's spot-on.  Better five years lost than six.

"It gets better:"  I'd like to tell you it WILL.  More accurate, at least in my experience and that of my friends, is it CAN get better.  It's a choice, though it sounds like that's the one you're making.  Good on you.  One person counseled not to get in a relationship for a while.  Heed that advice only if you want to get better and not have a dumpster fire relationship next go-'round.  This is a really good time to get with yourself, and God (not religion, mind you; God is very different from religion).  You get good with you and God, and you'll be fulfilled.  And you'll find contentment wherever you are.

Cams: yes.  Bike: no.  Horrendous watercolors: definitely!

Oh, and I have a hammock--new, unused--you're welcome to.  Roughly two pounds, I believe.  And a chopped 60 that's still close to full length.  If you get down to Vegas, hit me up.  Cheers, mate!

Curtis, my brother, you're undoubtedly an awesome person.  Just the way you are.  You've got magic.  We all do.  Trust that.  Trust that another gal will see that in you.  Move on from your ex.  Walk out of the tomb into new life, brother.  I say this from experience and from a caring heart.

Not sure what you're doing wrong, but you either need to hire an accountant to do your taxes for you, or fire the one you currently have....

I do, however, agree with your general sentiment regarding dependant financial ruin etc..(minus the whole part about kids)

ETA: bump for Sam. If only I were not already married......

Sam; the SHORT: don’t think about it… the LONG: There is no point in marriage, sex is pointless as well as the concept of “love”. I understand that this event in your life may make it difficult for you to comprehend or truly accept the fact of what I’m saying seriously. But there is no point is wasting you’re time looking for love, love and sex are just retardants for men to regress us from “enjoying” our lives, I get that a guy can be horny but that’s just a man stemming from his primal instincts; Think PAST those primal instincts and think of where you lie along the timeline of your life and how small you are in this world, just as small and meaningless as I am and everyone else. Remember, not to confuse love with meaninglessness and pointlessness, because you can give love and sex meaning, but that won’t take away from the cold hard-to-swallow-pill that love and sex is pointless. Take your time to recuperate from this lost “love” and find what make you happy, maybe looking for happiness is hard, so to make that idea even more vague and bittersweet, just look for whatever make you content, whether that be jerkin one off occasionally or getting laid with meaningless and uncommitted sex, I wish you the best my man.

If two married people make very similar incomes the deductions typically add-up worse. One of the reasons why some married file separately.
