March Alta Climbing

I'll be skiing at in Alta mid March, my skiing partner will probably take a day off during the trip and I'd like to get a climb in. Is the climbing around that time mostly ice or is there any rock climbing that time of year?

In March one can sometimes climb ice in the morning, do a couple pitches of rock, and get in a few runs in the backcountry. And that is all in LCC.

Depending on recent weather climbs at the Hinterlands and the mouth of Rock Canyon (Bad Bananas, Super Bowl, Ed n Terry walls) can have great conditions in March. Though if the climbing conditions are good the skiing might be pretty average.

Probably like a 45 minute drive from the mouth of LCC/BCC to Rock Canyon

You can climb at hell gate any month of the year if it's sunny out and you have the proper motivations.

. . . and the avalanche forecast is reasonable

Along with that rock fall is a concern early in the year up there.  Even with a helmet you can get bad headache.

No one is really pointing you to the right place.  South facing routes in lower little cottonwood will be in it's prime.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
