Packing Chalk for an International Flight?
|

Hey all, Heading to EPC soon and started overthinking about what's the best approach for bringing chalk and chalk bag with me as well as bringing it back. Curious what your experiences have been and what you'd suggest. Thanks! |

Since I don’t want to lose a full bag of chalk, I spread it amongst a whole lot of small zip lock bags. Usually in the 1.5” x 2” size. |

That's a way better plan than what I was doing. Might take me awhile to cut the saran wrap off all my chalk blocks. |

Never thought about it, and never had a problem after many flights (not to Mexico - I always drove). |

I've flown to EPC twice (to Monterrey) and elsewhere internationally a number of times, and never had any concerns with bringing chalk. I do pack it in my checked bag not carry-on. I use chalk balls instead of loose chalk anyway, and when packing for trips usually have one ball in my chalk bag and a back-up, still in the packaging, both together in a large, sealed poly bag to limit chalk dust getting over everything else stuffed in my luggage. While this isn't why I pack the chalk that way, I guess that if I was ever questioned by customs I could show them the packaging on the back-up!!!! |

Ryan Bowenwrote: Better to just fill some condoms and swallow them. Save some room in the luggage and don't have to worry about TSA confiscating them. |

The times I've flown to Monterrey the security there was used to climbers and the gear we carry. I wouldn't worry about it. I had a layover once in Mexico City and they told me my carry on quickdraws would blow up the plane. |

Put a little under your nostrils before you hit the 'ole xray machine. Then offer some to the person manning it. It helps, I promise. |

They're not looking for folks smuggling cocaine into Mexico.. |
