Free soloing in eldo
|
|
Found this youtube channel, Weak Crimp, where some mystery guy has been posting videos of his solos in eldo. Sunset is a pretty proud solo, but the Rewritten video is a little sketchy. Hard to believe it's the same guy only a few months apart. What do y'all think? |

|
I bet you're the "soloist" |
|
|
Good guess but no, I'm just some guy stirring the turd |

Some braincell in my head is seeing a match in those tats with the guy who was leaving his initials and a tick count on the rock with a sharpie near the summit of the 1st a few years back - “MH” or something like that - same guy? |

Omg it's alex |

It's hard stuff to watch given the recent fatal accidents in Eldo - as well as reading Jame Lucas's post about depression and wanting to jump off of the Naked Edge. People solo there all the time - and with a healthy amount of joie de vivre, but still. Stay safe. |

Very cringey. Couldn’t finish it. Some thoughts: 1. He seemed very concerned that no one be watching him… as he records the whole thing to post for the world to see. |

GoPro nauseum. |

Em Coswrote: That's what I'm saying. This guy has another video of him climbing Archangel (on a rope) and makes it look fairly casual, or at least easier than 12c normally looks. Why is this guy sweating on 5.7? I can understand getting sketched out or whatever but I feel like I wouldn't ever have posted that video |

Yukon Corneliuswrote: Scary. Another dead man walking. Someone should find out his identity and step in before it's too late. |

Opinion: this guy’s videos are rad and worth sharing. Keep it up man! |

Tradibanwrote: Really? Who cares. Let the guy do what he wants and if that leads to his demise so what. |

Honestly my biggest problem with this is that he wore a head mounted GoPro while climbing |

can anyone watch this without getting motion sickness? gotta love the rewritten traverse 'shitty feet, shitty feet' as he puts his feet below the very obvious perfectly find footholds. |

Dan COwrote: Nope! For me, all head mounted GoPro climbing vids = nausea-cam. |

Yukon Corneliuswrote: It’s what made Kyle rich and famous - I think he needs to keep wearing it. |

Marc801 Cwrote: The newest GoPros have incredible horizontal leveling, stability, and smoothing features. You just gotta use them right. |

A V wrote: The 10 has linear horizontal leveling and stabilization. What 360 cameras like the Max can do, is keep the camera pointing at the same place, no matter if you turn your head. That can be nice (unless that's not what you want), but those cameras do not do well close to things like rough rocks - the lenses (plural) get scratched real easily. Better to extend the camera off your helmet (the 360 stitching breaks if ya don't) - and well: if you think you look like a dork with a GoPro on around your forehead, just wait until you get a unicorn mount, |

I’ve met the guy. He’s cool and not what most of you are judging him to be. |

I watched his video on Archangel. This guy is a really good climber. |
