Steort's Ridge FKT car to car

Does anyone know the FKT on this? |

Time to get a life. |

There was an old video of Ryan McDermott running up Steorts Ridge. His car to car time was pretty fast, but can't remember what it was. The start of the video was Ryan walking in to REI to ask for beta on the route. |

According to this site https://door5.com/wasatch-fkt/, Ryan McDermott did it in 9:28 (under 10 minutes?!). Happened to see this recently and it stuck in my head because it sounded implausible, but I haven't seen that video--looks like it was taken down. |

Cool link John. Outstanding times posted for everything! |

John Badilawrote: Car to car in under 10 minutes?? There’s no way! |

If you sprinted like Usain Bolt to the base, then climbed like Dan Osman, you MIGHT make it to the top in 10:00. C2C...not a chance. After further consideration , if the “rules” are lax enough that a friend could set up one long ass rap, (I recall three raps off chains), it might be possible. Honnold and Osman were 4:15 and 4:25 on Bears Reach respectively. Steort’s seems close in length to Lovers Leap and probably a bit easier, so say 4:00 to climb and 1:00 to rap, which would give you 2:30 each way on the trail. Maybe they run down the ridge to climbers left, I just don’t see doing it that fast, and have you seen Alex and Dan climb LL, they are MOVING! I’m bored;) |

Just looked up Steort’s; MP says it’s only 250ft, so more than 100ft shorter than BR, hmmmm. |

I think I've done Steorts over 30 times and I've never rapped...my FKT (ha ha) is around 30 minutes with belaying. Under 10 minutes is nuts...but...doable if you watch Ryan climb (catches air climbing up the route in approach shoes!). Recall he nearly tripped on a tree root on the run back to the car. Scariest part of the whole route... As impressive was Jared's car-to-car time on Olympus' west slabs: 1:01. That's crazy fast. And frightening to watch (video link seems busted). https://door5.com/2011/06/05/olympus-west-slabs/ |

(~300 meters on a trail) + (three mellow pitches) + (a downclimb) + (maybe 350 meters on a trail) = easily doable for Mr. McD in 2005 (or 2021?) in under 10 minutes. Even with those damn roots. The REI beta was surely the key to his success! I trust a Strava segment is coming soon? |

Still hoping for a reunion tour in a fat suit... |

I can't find this legendary speed video.... |

I did 23 minutes and change once with a jog in and out but not rushing the climbing. That included putting on rock shoes. Pretty sure Ryan's time is legit and many have gone under 20. Also did a real deal effort on the schoolroom regular route in 17:43 RT from the gate parking lot. Climbed in approach shoes. I thought that one was pretty fun cause its more climbing and a decent approach. Fun to bomb down the scrambly walkoff too. |

Santiago Vega Castrowrote: 2 (?) years ago Allen had a very fast lap on the GWI, and possibly broke the record? |

What was your time Alex? |
