The Smith Craggin' Classic event is back October 1st-3rd and it's IN-PERSON! We're so excited to see everyone again and we're prepping to have an incredible event for you. Event registration opens Tuesday, August 17th so be sure to get your tickets and get signed up for a clinic while spots are available. Check the link below for details!

Parking is $5 and we have limited spaces so we STRONGLY encourage you to carpool. Not only will it save everyone money, save room in our parking area but it's better for our environment. With that said, this is just the place to connect with our climbing community to set up carpools. Heck, maybe you'll meet someone cool and have a new climbing friend for life. Here are some details to include in your post if your asking for or offering a ride.

If you are OFFERING a ride (be sure you've purchased a $5 parking pass at registration or plan to purchase it on-sight at check-in on Friday, Oct.1)

  • What town/city you are departing from
  • How many passengers you can carry (remember, everyone is going to have climbing & camping gear with them!)
  • What time/date you hope to depart
  • Note whether you are requesting to split gas and parking fee
  • What time/date you are planning on leaving the event

If you are REQUESTING a ride

  • What town/city you need picked up from
  • What time/day you're hoping to depart
  • What method you're able pitch in for gas/parking fee (cash, venmo, paypal, etc.)
  • How many packs/bags you'll be brining (helps driver know how much space they'll need in their car for gear)
  • What time/date you'd like to leave event

You can exchange contact info and address in private messages.

  1. For more details on the event check out https://americanalpineclub.org/smith-rock-cc
  2. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, head to our registration station: https://signup.com/go/viDcPAj
  3. If you have questions about event details or volunteering you can email us at smithcraggin@americanalpineclub.org (we will not be managing carpool or answering any carpool questions)

Can't wait to hang with everyone during this event!! See you all soon!

Hi all,

Jessica here. I'm looking to find a ride for one of our sponsors. Tuesdays for Trash is sponsoring our Sunday cleanup but their rep is without transportation. Let me know if anyone is coming down Saturday. I think it'd be 1 person coming from Portland.

I have a parking pass and will be driving from Seattle on either Thursday or Friday, returning probably Sunday evening (the "probably" is based on potentially climbing before/after the festival). I have space for four passengers (have a Thule box for gear but y'all would need to pack alpine style -- e.g. one backpack per person, otherwise can only take 3 people). Please contact me if you'd like a ride. Would like to share expenses (gas + parking).

Never been to smith or any cragging classic; is it even possible to go climb at smith this weekend without a ticket?

Heard parking is a bitch even without a large event.

Smith is a shit show on weekends, parking and otherwise, imo. The entire I 5 corridor shows up, and not just climbers. It is a pretty popular state park, after all. I was there the first weekend in October a few years ago....as were the Mazamas with a big group, literally busloads of tourists, and....a largish wedding going on. All outside, in that not so big area.

Good luck! H.
