outdoor climbing coach recs?

Would love to work with someone outdoors - any recommendations or where I might find recommendations? Can find guides but don’t think guides will also coach? |

I think your best bet is to find a guide who will work with you on the skills you are looking to develop. There are many AMGA certified guides who can also provide specialized movement coaching as well as technical skills. Where are you looking to climb outside with a coach? |

What Ryan said. Many of us (guides/instructors) will write a training plan for you and work with you on an ongoing basis to improve your climbing, fitness, etc. Best bet is defining some goals and finding a guide/instructor/coach best situated to work with you on an ongoing basis. Despite the trends the best coaching (probably) still happens in person (at least some of the time). |

A Fwrote: It would be helpful if you would comment about your goals, what you’re hoping to gain. It’s hard to recommend coach or guide without talking about where you’re at in your climbing and what you’re looking to gain. Technical/rope skills? Moving efficiently in the mountains? Gaining strength? Increasing body tension? Working on fears? Your above paragraph isn’t very specific. |

Fair enough to all your comments! I’m looking to get stronger and able to climb higher grades outdoors. I do think some aspect of that is mental (getting over fears, to b swizzle’s point above) so being outside to conquer those would help, but definitely physical (stronger, movement). With that in mind, indoor is likely fine too for that in particular (climbing skill progression), but as we know, climbing outside is just a different ball game! Getting some rope and gear handling skills *would* be good too, but secondary. |

Hey Andi, I do a decent amount of this kind of guiding/coaching and would be happy to work with you if the timing and geography work out. Feel free to shoot me a direct message if you’re interested. |
