Has anyone stayed at the Grand Teton Climbers Ranch this year since they switched it from dorm style to cabin bookings? Curious how busy it is and if its easy to meet potential partners there this year?
BTW: the park has put up sandwich boards telling people not to camp at the Lupine Meadows trailhead.
Too many camper vans have invaded the meadows, along with the completly clueless who actually setup tents, chairs, cooking stations, etc.
... Under the radar is something that was tolerated to a degree but too many people these days think it's an RV park or a drive-in Hotel for Hondas. As I type this, folks are walking to their tent in the woods just off the parking lot. Need a place to sleep? Try the highway pullout just south of Jackson. Or dispersed camping in the Nat. Forest. Or know how to go unnoticed in town, etc.
The ranch was booked pretty solid the last time I checked (when they opened up booking for the season) so it may not be possible to get a front country sleeping spot unless some party cancels (does happen). Most campgrounds were booked months ago.
Anyways off to enjoy a midnight climb under moonlight. Several nice days on tap in the Tetons.
Thanks for the heads up. I booked a few months ago without super clear plans, and was debating whether to cancel a few nights (I did, so someone will have a good weekend window in Aug at the Ranch). Sounds like a busy summer in Wyoming.
