Posting and Moderation Policies
|
|
Hi. I was wondering if anyone could please point me towards MPs main source of info about posting rules and moderation policies. I had a couple forum comments deleted recently in the Gear Discussion forum, and I am pretty certain I didn't break any rules. The first one was actually very popular and had far and away more "thumbs up" than any other comment. I was contributing something that users liked. The second comment that got axed was more or less a quick and polite "Hey mod, why was my post deleted?" I feel as though the moderation was heavy handed, but if I was in the wrong, at least let me know why. |

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk Also keep in mind the general attitude around climbing right now with cancellation, route name redaction, and that "offending/hurting" someone is easier than yo mama. |

By the rules (as linked to below), my first post on this thread is entirely in the bounds of something that could justifiably be deleted by the admins |

I've had many many posts deleted and in a study of such deleted posts, I've concluded that the moderators delete anything and everything that is flagged by more than one person. The amount of thumbs you get adds fuel to the fire. |

I have a feeling they might see the surrounding posts and context, but let's do it. Flagging now. Everyone else, please flag my previous post. |

I have also just successfully ignored myself. Ah, the high quality code on this site! |
