Anyone been out that way lately? Wondering if crampons/axe will be needed, or microspikes/pole, or if the snow is all gone given it's been dry as a bone. Any/all beta is appreciated! TY

Climbed Moon Goddess on May 14th.  needed crampons and an axe to reach the base of the routes in the morning (9am).  By the time we were descending (1pm) the snow in contact pass was soft enough to glisade/plunge step down.  the top half of the upper steep section of contact pass was melted out.  The climbs were dry, although there could have been a few small patches of snow on dark star in the north shady notches.

***BUT the whole sierra range picked up several inches of new snow above 9k~10k during the storms of Sunday May 16th and Monday May 17th.***

Saw that... hopefully a week of melt freeze will make it supportable by Memorial day weekend... or it'll just be a scenic hike :)

Seems like it was a bit of a bust.

Update: climbed Venusian blind on 5/30 on completely dry rock and used an ice axe and microspikes with approach shoes to get to the base, plunge stepped down the remaining snow in the Contact Pass gully. Another party who camped near us at Third Lake went up sun ribbon. Would assume Moon Goddess is dry as well. There was also a tragic fatality on the Mt. Gayley ridge the same day.

I ended up doing Emmerson solo on the 29th as my partners were all busy. What happened on Gayley??

A few Temple Crag photos from Saturday, 7/3. Barely any snow on the Moon Goddess/Venusian Blind or Sun Ribbon Arete approaches.  Some avoidable snow left on the Contact Pass descent.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
