Is Grand Junction a good place to live?

I’d say by Frank’s reaction he is either a racist or Q-Annon conspiracy theorist. |

I ended up next to Zion for now. But GJ is one of the places I still keep an eye on still. Once I'm finished with schooling and residency, I'll be looking to truly settle into a climbing community. I appreciate the post update. |

FrankPSwrote: Definitely not a teenager You’re just an easy target and you seem like a guy who likes to dish it out as much as get it thrown back at ya. |

B Pwrote: Calling someone a racist because you disagree with them is weak. But that's all the rage these days! It's a case of "The Boy Who Cried Racist." Dilutes the meaning of the word when it's overused. |
|
|
FrankPSwrote: Maybe it just seems overused because after the last 4 years it appears that 1, there's a lot more awareness, and 2, the racists have been given permission to come out from under their rocks. |

FrankPSwrote: I agree with you to a certain point. I listened to an article on NPR this morning talking about how black people in particular are having a hard time going from home to back to working in an office as Covid cases subside. |

You mean, like a haircut? :) |

Grant Kleeveswrote: Montrose is nice, been here 14 years and the place has been discovered by lots of people so housing is tight and expensive, not like Denver but it is hard to find affordable good housing. Cheaper than Ridgway but still going up. Good bike shops but no climbing stores or ski shops. |

Does anyone have any leads on possible rentals in GJ? |

B Pwrote: Woah. You mean you’re equating a choice to have long hair and the “consequences”, which are probably mild, to being black? One has the consequences of being born and living in a society where up until recently, and based on the color of your skin, it was A-ok for state sanctioned murder, subjugation, economic slavery, etc… I ain’t got enough words for you. Stay woke, bro. |

Daisy Mwrote: I don’t know about your assessment of GJ, but I take issue with your conclusion. Perhaps the kind of ideological self-sorting you advocate actually allows bad ideas to fester and metastasize. Moreover, living among people with whom we disagree — and withholding our contempt — just might help us confront our own biases and expand our worldview. |

Vanilla Drilla From Manilawrote: You’re the one who sounds woke, but evidently my example was too much for you to grasp. |

B Pwrote: I got it. You minimized the struggles of people of color and you agree we should stop short of killing them. You sound like a real gem. |
|
|
Vanilla Drilla From Manilawrote: You’re not getting it though. My comment was in response to Frank saying the overuse of the word racist dilutes the meaning. I used the example of the NPR story as a way of saying that hey, maybe some of these racist or profiling situations aren’t unique to being black. These situations arise because some people are just assholes whether you’re black or white, male or female. It’s amazing you never married. |

Grant K wrote: Actually you are incorrect. I’ve lived here for nearly 7 years and the air quality is great. During the freak wild fires last year the air was filled with smoke but other than that it’s quite clear. You may be thinking of Salt Lake, UT |
