I've lost my boyfriend Evrim Cabuk during a climbing accident at the Gunks. He lost his life during the safest possible climb. As most other young deaths, this was a tragic incident. I still find it hard to believe, hard to understand. He loved rock climbing and I'm sad he didn't get to do more of it. I hope now he is climbing all the mountains he wants. He was full of life, full o energy, full of talent. He loved computers, electronics, nature photography, extreme sports, his friends and family. He had so much to give to this world yet lost his life at such a young age. I was wondering if anyone else suffered a loss like this and would like to get in touch.null |

Sash A, I am so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a wonderful person, and this is just tragic. Are you aware of the American Alpine Club's Climbing Grief Fund? It was established to help people suffering a loss like this, and it might be able to offer you some support in this horrible situation. They offer individual grants for therapy, if that is something that might be of help to you as you navigate through this. |

Sorry to hear of your loss, Sash A! That's tough. I'm sure Evrim is in fact climbing all the mountains he wants. Because, like you said, he was full of life and I think that carries over on to the other side too. Please take care... |

Rest in Power to your loved one Sash A. I am very sorry for your loss. |

I'm so terribly sorry for your loss Sash A. I've gone through a sudden loss of a loved one, but not quite like this. Sending you all of my sympathies. You're welcome to reach out. My loss was different (my dad, but he was young and it was an unexpected accident). If there's anything I can do whether it's listen or offer any words, I will. I know no words can really help during the shock of such an unfair tragedy that never should've happened, though. I'm very sorry, glad you reached out here. |

Sash, it's just heartbreaking to read your post. I am so sorry for your loss, and the loss to all his friends and family. At this point in my life, I have lost many loved ones, and been shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of more casual friends and acquaintances. Still, my own experiences do not provide me with any magic words of wisdom which might comfort you. All I can say is, take good care of yourself. It might not seem possible right now, but I hope and believe that your grief and pain will ease over time. Phyl |
