Reslinging Old BD Cams 2021
|
|
I bought this at IME in North Conway I'm looking to get this 3rd Gen c4? re-slung. I'm pretty sure BD wont do it at this point (correct me if I'm wrong). I have found some other places Runout customs, Yates, Mtn Tools but I don't have any experience with these companies or others and would like some advice. Also would it be super faux pas to just re-sling it with cord and call it good? Thanks for the help |

Good to go with cord |

Cord is fine, just make sure it's not the cheapo stuff at REI. I've used mountain tools before and they did a fantastic job. |

I had 3rd gen BDs reslung by Runout Customs a couple years ago around this time. The turnaround was fast (couple weeks?) and I didn’t die when I fell on one. Ymmv ygd |

Mountain Tools does a great job. Why have bulky knots on a cord when a sewn sling is so much cleaner? |

Mountain Tools is great. You can pick your color and either nylon or spectra. |

Runout Customs is awesome, and I was super impressed by the turnaround time when I used them. Black Diamond (I don't know if they would resling this or not) took absolutely forever. |

I believe black diamond will re-sling these. I just sent 3 of these at the beginning of March (March 8th to be exact), and they are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I will follow up with pics once they are back in my hands. Hopefully, I don't open my box to a note saying "Sorry, we can't re-sling these" |

I'll second (or third or fourth) Runout Customs. I got about 20 cams reslung this winter, and they turned them around in about a week and a half (from when I mailed them to when I got them back). The slings look basically identical to those on brand-new cams, I have no concerns about their safety or quality. |

Thank you all for the thoughtful responses!! |

The hole looks big enough to take a tech sling...like a BD dynex or Mammut contact. Would also give the option to extend. 30cm sling might be doable. |

Mountain Tools did a great job on my cams. |

My experience with Runout Customs was EXCELLENT! Did a great job and had my cams back quickly. Go with Luke! |
|

Runout for sure. He also makes some sick haul bags! |

Ditto Luke at Runout. |

Seth on FirstPersonBeta just slung his with a doubled up loop of cord it looks like. Should be plenty strong enough if you don't mind the bulky knot, and seems like it gives you the option to extend it. |

Wow now I'm going to die of analysis paralysis haha Those BD factory reslings look bomber also considering RC because I like the website and what you all said! I will probably try to add a few more from this generation and then get the resling! The dirtbag in me just wants to leave the 6mm doubled loop I strung up, my wife votes for the resling, time will tell! |
