BigCountry wrote: Tell that to the parents of kids shot in school with a hi-cap rifle...they vote too, and I would rather be able to shoot whatever I want if it means I need to re-load after 10....why is a big deal to have capacity limits on civilian firearms??? Is it because people want to go play army? I guess I got my fill in the actual army. |

Buck Riowrote: The second amendment was meant to provide a warfighting capability to the people. There isn't meant to be a differentiation between military and civilian small arms. |

Buck Riowrote: Yep. Repeal the NFA, anyone? ETA 2: I'll respond to Nick here as well. Maybe he'll see. I really should say that we should reform the NFA. I'd rather not have local gun shops selling RPGs and mortars, but I do believe that the people need to have access to the tools to resist tyranny if that ever becomes necessary. I'm willing to put some more thought into my position, but I do think that the NFA is a heavily flawed piece of legislation. I don't necessarily like it, but I see why machine guns are regulated the way they are. Suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs absolutely do not belong in the same category as machineguns though. ETA 1 (hit my post limit):
Irrelevant. The 2A protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. That right isn't contingent on the State possessing a standing army. |

And if you think that you're drunk bi polar uncle bubba can be trusted with a rocket launcher and a foot locker full of claymors you get yourself a special spot on my too stupid to own a gun list. |

I like to trad climb and I like to hunt old school with a bow or bolt action rifle. I have no threats in my life I know of that compel me to need a batch of 30 round magazines. That said, I don't believe any of these laws will do anything to increase safety from gun crimes. Until we are like Japan or the UK and gun ownership is limited to a handful of the elite. Hunters safety is good info, but states that require it do not show any increases in safety compared to states that don't require it. Gun control laws likewise show no definitive effect on crimes with guns. Some places show positive results, other negative. The real solutions are complex with changes to culture, economy and such being hard to do. Since gun control will fail up to the point of confiscation, these incremental restrictions won't stop. The downside to losing gun rights, which is not considered by those wishing to limit guns, will be the loss of ability of the vulnerable to defend themselves (as currently happens hundreds of thousands of times a year according to CDC studies). |

We are not Japan the UK or Australia and to imagine that confiscation would be feasible or work in this country is just nonsense. Taking away our rights as citizens will not protect us from criminals. The more the 2nd is eroded coincidentally seems to affect our 1st amendment rights as well if anyone else is noticing. |

BigCountrywrote: Confiscation is happening incrementally in many states as we speak. The pressure to do so will continue . Privacy rights are taking a hit in WA state. To buy, or borrow a handgun or Semi Auto requires one to allow the state to forever rummage thru your medical records. Even if you move out of state or no longer own the firearm. Imagine the DMV required to go thru your health records annually. That's who is charged with the task. |

Wait, I thought Obama already took all the guns, after Clinton took all the guns? |

PWZwrote: I find the Venn Diagram of people who want no gun laws and fly Gadsden Flags and the people who have thin blue line flags and are abhorred by the phrase "defund the police" to be a nearly perfect circle. |

M Awrote: Then you need to check your control groups my man. I know many many many gun enthusiasts who want a less armed police force. |

Ryan Bondwrote: How many of you advocates of a heavily armed civilian population but a badly equipped/organized State actually been to a place like Iraq or Afghanistan? Some of us have, and let me assure you, the end result is not pretty. What makes you think that the results in the U.S. would be different? |

Ryan Bondwrote: I agree, but I also don't think the group I mentioned would be most accurately described by the term gun enthusiast. I like to shoot and I think the militarization of our police is an issue. But I also don't think people need the right to carry an AR into a Walmart or local town hall. |

He said less armed not badly equipped. There is a difference. The militarized police force is excessive |

BigCountrywrote: Well, it does not make sense to have a more armed population and a less armed police, does it. During the early days of the insurgency our ROE allowed us to engage anyone other than Iraqi police who was armed with anything more potent than a RPD/RPK light machine gun. AKMs and RPDs were quite common with the locals. So was the bigger stuff, but at least they knew we could shoot them if we saw it. The Iraqi police were armed mostly with side arms, and they could do little more than direct traffic. Again, the results were not pretty, and that went beyond than just the insurgency. Family/tribal clashes were common as were clashes between ad hoc (allied) militias. |

I don't know what the answers are. I do know that if you won't hang out with me because I don't think intoxicated, incompetent, stupid people with mental health issues and ties to terrorist organizations should be allowed to play with guns that in itself is part of the problem. |

What’s a good gun for multi pitch? |

Ask Ron O . Disclaimer, he is mostly an aid climber but he may still have some useful recommendations for free climbing as well. We certainly empowered Iran and destabilized the entire region. I certainly see a very strong resemblence between pickup trucks full of flag waving ak toting Jihadis and pickup trucks full of flag waveing trumpers with ARs. Scary shit.. you guys think this asshole I saw down in Seneca is a responsible gun owner.. I am getting a NO... |
