Whats the best thing to say to your partner when they are freaked out on lead? |

"blow off I'll lead this hog" From an 80s Climbing artcle. |

I would say ask your partner. Some people need to hear “you’ve got this!”(or some variation), while others prefer silence while they mentally work through it. |

When I'm hearing the Demons of Doubt, it is calming to hear, "Hey, I'll do this if you're not feeling it." |

I've told some partners, "No pressure to do this. You can leave a biner, if you want." And, "Take your time. I've got you." I think one of the dumbest things I've heard is "Just go for it." Easy to say when you're on the ground and it's not your bones that will be broken. |

Two very distinct situations, one when your partner is scared cuz they're a couple feet above a bomber piece or bolt and they don't want to actually whip but are perfectly safe and another when they're in some degree of do not fall zone. In situation 1, a little "your gear's good, i got you!" is always appreciated. In situation 2, shut up while i figure this out please. |

Depending on the situation, "go for it" or "commit!" can be really good. Otherwise "I got you" or "I'm here with you" are my go tos. If it's really dangerous I just shut up. |

The British are coming! The BRITISH. ARE. COMING! |

Similar to "go up!", I love the classic "Just stand up!" beta shout. Gee, why didn't I think of that? |

Willow Maewrote: Not a damn thing. Focus on your reaction as a belayer if your partner falls off... right NOW. |

The next ones good. |

If your leader is stressed, STFU and let them focus. Don't distract them unless they ask. |

“OK bud yer ‘off belay’!” Then watch as the spirit of Jesus possesses them on the next move. |
