Rap situation for Stirrup-Notch Route (jtnp)?
|

Does anyone have information (the more recent, the better) on what the rap situation for the Stirrup-Notch Route is? The 3rd ed. Miramontes guidebook states that "descending might require a simul-rap or slung-plate rap," and MP simply says "rappel off" (plus a comment indicating that you can rap the route with a 60m rope). We'd love to have a sense of what to expect up there before getting on it. Thanks! |

rap with one 60 m rope via bolted rap anchor gets you down to near the start. you can see the thick flake that the two strands drape over. pull the rope from way left should prevent rope from getting snagged by that |

Super helpful--thanks so much, Sean! |

Well, now it won't be much of an adventure! |

there's also white bird poop on top next to bolted rap anchor. sorry to rob more adventure from the imminent outing, to deprive of each individual's cherished emotional response to seeing bird poop |

Sean, I saw you were also the source of the lone opinion on the MP page for The Only Child. We did that one earlier this week--a decent bit of...adventure...packed into a very short route ;) |

yeah, that's a decent obscure one, within short walk of parking end loop. many walk past that to New Toy and etc. hope you did that before referencing it on MP. otherwise, if you had read the descent info beforehand, then you've robbed yourself some adventure on that one as well, forever not fully experienced |
