Pete Whitaker - Freerider rope solo & with Jacob Cook

What does this mean? Did both climbers, climbing as a team, free climb the route in a day?

Hi Mark,

To the best of my knowledge, yes, both climbers freed. I know that’s the case with Whittaker & Cook, there’s one or two others where I don’t ave that much info.
I found it interesting that in The NY Times article about Emily Harrington the American Alpine Club estimated about “20-25 climbers“ have freed in a day. I think that was an underestimate but makes me wonder who I’ve missed, and who I listed as a free partner but actually jugged behind.

Hmmm.... interesting. I wasn’t aware of any team free (both climbers free climbed the route) aside from Alex and Tommy on their Triple IAD.

I do love nerding out on Clint's website and on Sloan's speed section of his website. I also love it when I find out something totally bad ass that no one reports! Its pretty easy for that to happen these days since all that climbing media does to report sends and the like is to repost an instagram post. The level of reporting is pretty piss poor. For example, I've been stuck in NH so when I heard about Pete's FR rope solo I was blown away. Unable to run into him in the valley and be a fan boy and ask him about it I searched for some reporting. I think gripped mag was the only news source to do an actual interview. And alpinist was the only one to report the other two free climbing rope solos of the FR.

I thought Stanley and Leo did it when they were linking it up with half dome.

+1 to what Mikey said since they did both routes free in a day AFAIK

Mayan and Neils did a team free ascent of Freerider in a day as far as I know.

I wasn't aware that Walker ever sent FR IAD, I'll ask him about it. I know he tried a handful of times.

That would be great Luke, I will update the opening post when you find out

When I did the Muir a few years ago, Tommy and Alex were doing Corazón IAD. I’d suspect the both free climbed it.

Updated with some dates, impressive new ascents, and reformatting.  If anyone has new names, or additional information of style, etc, let me know.
