Alright ladies and gents it's time. With snow falling in the valley and temps up at Alta being projected in the negatives tonight let's get the ball rolling! I'm currently out of state rn but gonna go ice scouting when I get back to Salt Lake. If anyone has any beta on early season routes that are in in the Uintas or elsewhere please share!

Literally the only reason I came to MP today!

How much snow fell in the Uintas?   It’s been super dry up there and those hills need all the moisture they can get!

Also, Dustin just posted a photo of prove on the FB UT ice climbers page.

Well this is a perfectly timed post - came here looking for just this! I've always been in NH for early season ice so I've no idea when things typically start shaping up around here. What's the strategy for early season ice around here? Sounds like the Uintas? When are we usually seeing things form up in Provo Canyon?

Jon is most likely spot on about the Uintas rn. Provo canyon is pretty consistent but most lines are far from formed. Looks like it's in the process right now. Get it while it's cold. Not gonna be there long. Unless.....

Apron main line this morning in Provo. Fulminant, but TRable. Could hold a screw in a couple of cold days.

If you're wondering about the possibility of Roberts Horn, will save you the trip.

If it stays cold the GWI train will be starting soon.

Assuming it's melted out by now, but any ideas if the Apron is still TR'able?

From what I could see at the road, it didn't look super promising.

I was there this am, the apron is climbable.  Just note there was/is a bit of a wind through the canyon and the above freezing temps, thus rock fall potential is high today.

Climbed two mixed pitches to the base of standard pitch two of GWI yesterday. Def on the way out. Pitch two was totally unclimbable, three looked alright from our angle and four was not in.

Is this able to be moved or duplicated into the Northern Utah regional forum?

Can this thread be deleted to keep everything in one place?
