's newest edition of Rock Climbing Clear Creek Canyon by Kevin Capps is available to pre order on our website! With over six new crags, 80 new routes, and new action photos, we think this book with help you get your psych on! We expect pre orders to ship in the first week of September.

We  also recently released a new book, the Golden Climbing Guide by Kevin Capps and Jason Haas. This book updates and replaces our out of print North Table Mountain book. But in addition to Table, we added chapters that include the Lookout Mountain area, Golden Gate Canyon, and Morrison. We hope you enjoy this new title!

I've still got the 1st edition. Can anyone tell me if it's worth getting the new version or if the first edition still covers the vast majority of good climbing in the canyon (I'm not super interested in new walls that popped up with only one or two good climbs)

Your Golden Climbing guide is a bit of a letdown. I expected more info on Golden Gate but you only covered couple of crags. Other then that, guide is ok.

Hey there dsauerbrus, sorry for the late reply! The 1st edition contains about 800 routes, and the 3rd edition contains about 1200. So a 50% increase. I'd say it's a huge upgrade from the 1st edition. Probably also a dozen additional new crags.

Fehim, I'm sorry our guide let you down! This is definitely good info for me to have when it comes time for a second edition.

Good point about the Golden Gate section, the only crags I covered were the main, popular ones. I will consider adding more areas in future editions. It was a time thing, unfortunately. Finding climbing partners and having the time became a bit of an issue and I didn't want to publish half documented crags.

Does this include any bouldering, or is it strictly sport climbs?

Really, you should be glad that Golden Gate SP is not fully documented. Enjoy those crags not in the new book and don't put them on Mountain Project, either.

There is no bouldering in either book, they include both sport and trad climbing. I have definitely thought about adding bouldering to Clear Creek Canyon, but also concerned it would make the book pretty heavy for people who like to carry the book to the crag. There could be a way to add it in there and slim it down at the same time, maybe in the next edition. I guess I like adding all of the action photos in the Clear Creek guide, which make it a few extra pages already.

How do you know someone climbs at secret, not on mountainproject crags?

They'll post about it on mountainproject.
