Scored an entry pass for this Wednesday.  Are the climbs still crowded because all the passes are being scored by climbers???  I swore to never climb cathedral again because of crowds, but if things are slow I may take my son up.

just get on up there!! crowds are 50% less. 4th of july was empty... cant comment on Cathedral itself..but its def one of the most popular routes out there..

I climbed Cathedral on a Tues a few weeks ago. Started climbing around 9am. There was one other party en route. Two parties showed up just as we summited. Pretty quiet. YMMV.

I went during the last weekend of june. I found the crowds to be varied, on saturday there was a huge line up on Holdless Horror on Dozier Dome, but on Sunday we were the only party on west crack all day I believe.

I’ve been up there every weekend since the gate opened and the climbing seems pretty quiet.  There are plenty of people around they just aren’t climbers.  It is honestly a great time to be there if you got reservations.

Climbed Cathedral last Thursday and it was a junk show. Got to base at 10:30 thinking it'd be emptyish on a weekday but had to zoom up to the chimney to beat 5 other parties to the bottleneck. At one point there were 5 different ropes to maneuver around. Otherwise, Tuolumne has felt chill. If Cathedral, start early :)

Or late. Like, evening. Most other parties somehow manage to get clear by then.

Also, the knobby face to the left is a lot more fun than the chimney, especially if you're carrying a pack.

Yeah, you can start up around 3-4PM, the days are still long enough even if you want to pitch it out at that time. I like the chimney and the step across :)

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
