NC climbing with kids

I have a 5 year old niece that wants to go climbing. Any recommendations for places (preferably within about 1.5 hours of Winston-Salem) that would be good? I'm hoping for somewhere that has multiple, short, < 5.6 routes. Top access is preferred, but not necessary.
Thanks for the input.

Rocky Face is perfect for that age. No approach, picnic tables, and some super easy TRs. Does get hot. Legend has it, you can order pizza from the crag base.

I'm not as familiar with Rocky Face, but Pilot isn't all that great in < 5.5/5.6 range.  Goldilocks is 5.5-5.6 but is kind of awkward for little ones without climbing shoes.  I feel the same way about the routes listed in the 3 Bears Gulley: Honeypot and Unknown ( mountainproject.com/route-f…;type=rock&diffMinrock=1000&diffMinboulder=20000&diffMinaid=70000&diffMinice=30000&diffMinmixed=50000&diffMaxrock=1600&diffMaxboulder=20050&diffMaxaid=75260&diffMaxice=38500&diffMaxmixed=60000&is_trad_climb=1&is_sport_climb=1&is_top_rope=1&stars=0&pitches=0&sort1=rating&sort2=area ) .  The only good thing about all of those routes...while Pilot is very hot in the summer, all of those routes are oriented such that you're not directly in the sun most of the day.  The best easy route is probably PeeBreak, but it bakes in the sun past early morning.

+1 for Rocky Face

But it's direct sun with zero shade. Made the mistake of going on an 84° day once. Had to hide my feet under the rope tarp while belaying because my shoes got so hot.

In pre-covid times there were often large groups (university clubs) with all-day top ropes set up on many of the easier routes. Likely not an issue for 2020?

Another+1 for Rocky Face.  There's a playground around the corner to, at least there was last time we were there, and a small zip line for the kids.

It has been several years since I've been back with my kids so maybe they've cleaned things up a bit more but a couple caveats about Rocky Face - there were areas around the base that had a lot of cactus/cactus needles as well as bits of broken glass. When I was there we would make a collection of the various bits of broken glass and trash a bit every time. One time a friend's kid got into a bunch of cactus needles and was not very happy (plus needles got in their rope).

The heat is no joke and the rock is black and absorbs it, make sure it's cool or at least quite overcast. I find it to be a good winter destination.

In addition, if you go at certain times of year there are a billion stink bugs everywhere. I went to the bathroom at the station and there were at least 50 of the bastards in there, which can be unsettling for an adult and downright upsetting for kids who don't like bugs. Don't remember what time of year that was but google tells me Sept/Oct is the typical season for it.

All of that said, it is hard to beat the convenience as the climbing is nearly as close to the car as if you were in a climbing gym, which if you are lugging a lot of kid crap can make the experience a lot more pleasant. I honestly wonder if a beach sun shade wouldn't be a terrible idea. There are also a lot of kid friendly routes as stated above.

Probably farther than an hour and a half, but the Chimneys up near Table Rock at Linville Gorge are a pretty good top rope area.

I can personally confirm that the legend is true - did it last time I believe it was the dominoes in Taylorsville.  The park ranger knew which one delivered there.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
