Hey ya'll,

I will be in the Lake Tahoe area at the end of the month coming from Salt Lake City.

I've never been before and am interested specifically in Wall of the Worlds on Calaveras Dome.

I know its warm there but am curious about whether that route would be too hot at that time of the year or not?

Any other recommendations?

Any beta greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The end of August...
Should be good to go...

If you like clawing your way up the surface of a blinding white frying pan in searing temperatures that will scorch your fingertips off and melt your shoes permanently to the bottoms of your now crispy tender feet. P.S. bring water... lots of water!

On the flip side, the road is clear of snow.

Got it.

Looks like Lovers Leap would be a better option?

P.S. Thanks for saving me.

I did that route in August before, it was hot, but not too bad. Maybe only brought 3 Liters for 2 people. Just start early.

However, my partner insisted that we hike to the top in climbing shoes to get the true summit. That was a horrible idea.

On a weekend like this one perfect temps...but coole2r than average. LL is very hot this time of year too in full sun. Tuolumne is a better idea.

Sand of time is super fun and you get to the Tibetan towers to rap off can check out Silk Road, morning n the way down,a long hike but fine line is awesome and worth the hike! Happy climbing MikeA.

Lovers Leap is in great condition right now fyi.  I'm waiting until Calaveras Dome cools down enough to climb there this season, but the Leap has been an excellent detour!

Anyone been out there recently? I know one of the access roads is closed per the MP page but still looks like you can get there. Mainly interested if there are a lot of folks holed up at the campsites as I know a lot of the forest service roads are seeing more use with social distancing in effect.

Ellis road is open. Climbed Rastaman Vibrations. A bit hot until it goes into the shade.
