Owens River Gorge Opening?
|

Any word on when the area might re-open for users? |
|

Well played, Sir. |

Isn't it stupid hot out there right now? |

Last I hear- Bishop Locals- were directing traffic off of 395 at SunLand and over to Ed Powers Rd so Bishop is bypassed.... is this true? Or are the rumors true about the “Reptile Aliens” taking over the place? I can’t get any information. |

No Guy, we are not directing traffic off 395 to bypass Bishop ----- WE are do this to shot anyone near us. The bodies are stackinguplikecordwood , it's almost as bad as Double Cross. |

This isn't official word. But it's no secret that DWP isn't a fan of climbing in the Owens River Gorge. Now they finally have a good excuse to shutter it. As Winston Churchill said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste". I wouldn't hold your breath on it reopening. |

I would not start worrying yet. DWP is working with a skeleton crew & just trying to get by right now. But if people want to get in their hair, it's easier for them to keep it closed. They like to think of themselves as stewards of the land they own, & that will probably get them to open it at sometime. |

For what it's worth, I've heard that the employees working in the Gorge have little problem with climbers. We keep out of their way and don't give 'em any grief. They've always been cordial to me. |

DWP has always been a good steward of the land. If it didn’t exist Bishop and surrounding mountains would be wall to wall “No Trespassing” signs allah Montana and The Milks would be on some dudes 4th vacation ranch and we could only LOOK at them over the fence. DWP has always welcomed climbers - just don’t mess with their stuff. |

Fortunately, we still have plenty of locals who will fight back when the richshits try to block even access to public lands when they feel like it. |

Nobody climbs in bishop anymore it's way too crowded. |

The Gorge is now open. Went & got ropes off of projects finally today. |

Great temps in the gorge for a few days. Great climbing and not crowded. Was a little chilly in the shade yesterday. Finished a new 40m 10c with my daughter Makayla, just as the sun set |
