We’ve had 1 reported incident of a “could-have-been-an-injury”  through various activities including, but not limited to: concerts, dive bars, shopping, road running, trail running, hiking, backpacking, and gnarly approaches (and even some 5.8 and easier sport routes). The could-have-been-an-injury happened at a large concert.

Toetem Sandals are built on a biomechanically-correct platform. That means that, unlike many other “adventure sandals”, you are as nimble in our footwear as you are barefoot.

With our Approach Sandals you will organically flow through something as gnarly as a rockfall field approach — not clunking, stomping, and “conquering” it.
Toetem Sandals uses Vibram Approach rubber — the same compound used by La Sportiva. We offer that same grip and traction, with the added performance boost of using your own proprioception and biomechanics — two things that are far beyond our most advanced mechanical technology. You feet are perfectly tuned to the rest of your body - trust them.

Woah 10k miles over 2 years is an insane amount of test miles. Assuming 1 person wearing nothing but sandals every single day, that's over 13 miles a day. Any data on your testing? Did you have a fleet of people walking around daily in your sandals?

Don't forget all that dancing at Phish shows.

I'll pass...Earth Runners are simply the best. I've tried all the others (but not these). The design of Earth Runners are so simple, aesthetic, secure, and comfortable.

I love sandals,  and they're my go to approach footwear. I've had a nasty encounter with bryers and sharp talus but I just cowboy up.
I don't like the idea of a strap though the toes though.

Are these compatible with Conrad's approach socks?

Not quite a fleet, but we have some dedicated people out there who have helped shape Toetem Sandals into a stellar product.

We have 30+ pairs out in the wild. A handful of testers did not provide feedback, but the majority have been involved for over a year, while a few have been involved since the beginning. The mileage is calculated based on estimates from testers, my wife and I included. Wearing them for daily use, the mileage adds up very quickly.

Personally, I’m at over 4k miles.
Toetem Sandals was not created to fill a niche, but to provide versatile, bomber footwear for outdoor recreation. After years of wearing other sandal brands for outdoor recreation, I wanted a sandal that would fit my needs without compromising: cragging, approach, trail running, road running, fishing, social wear, and everyday wear. Toetem Sandals is the result of that quest.
Versatile & Dynamic. Aggressive & Casual. Performance & Lightweight. Comfortable & Stylish. Wet & Dry.
The toe-post serves to keep your foot securely planted into the footbed, laterally and medially, during ascents and descents. That stand-out feature is further augmented with our 100% Adjustable Strapping System and No-Slip Footbed.
For those who want to wear socks, Injinji makes toe socks that work well with Toetem Sandals. I can’t say how it effects the foot-to-sandal grip, but I know one of my testers wears them regularly in cold weather.
I appreciate your interest! Keep the questions coming. Remember to check out our Instagram, Facebook, and website to stay up to date!
