Starting to plan a 2020 or 2021 Aconcagua trip and would like to do something private, a faster pace and without all the frills of a full international guided trip. Does anyone have any references / suggestions?

Thanks!

Paul, I've got a couple friends who have done various trips in SA and Alaska with a guide named Edgar - speak highly of him.  Let me get his info and I'll paste it here.

EDIT:  This is his FB, digging for other info if needed beyond that.   facebook.com/edgarparraclim…

I went solo & unguided in '14 and had a great trip. I did however use Inka for mule transport of some of the gear to Plaza de Mulas. This, at the time, got you access to "fresh" water at base camp as well as use of their toilets and garbage pickup. and back out.

You set the pace and time for your group or trip. I also came down from camp 2 for 2 days due to 80+ MPH winds and rented a bed in one of their group tents. I believe it was $15/night at the time.

They are very flexible and would allow me to join any of the meal services they provide for their expeditions. Of course there is a cost with that but it was nice to have the option. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend them. The route is easy to follow and there will be tons of people there so you're never really alone.

+1 for inka.

I am planning it in Dec 2020
Un-guided. Will use mule transport.
And will try to do it in 7 Days.
Let me know, if you want to join.

7 days is ambitious but is doable if you're acclimated. Have fun!  Wish I could go back but that's not happening any time soon. Mendoza was a wonderful town to spend a few extra days in as well.

No frills, just hire a muleteer to pack everything in. That is what most do.
