well, wasnt the 70s, was more like 91-92 maybe? anyhow, j-tree was practically empty, it was december or january. beautiful weather for climbing in a t shirt, no snow at all, and no one to annoy us (i think we annoyed that guide though......oh well, too bad he had a whole park to take his student anywhere where there were no people climbing). i dont remember there being an entrance fee, and we had pretty much free reign of any campsite to pull into and crash for the night.

Yep. I'm at that point just before dust.
I started climbing in 64/65 when I was 9 years old
I grew up just down the street from Indian Cove

The Jellystone Park just outside Yucca Valley was built in either 71 or 72
I can't remember when it closed.
There is a Jellystone Rock in the Park near Echo tho.

Not too sure but I think the Park started charging mid 90s to 2000

No it’s not, it’s also not your moms fault you are a keyboard warrior. It’s the attachment of yourself to Jtree. For example...

Russ here eats ice cream and enjoys it. Years down the road someone says, “Hey, try this new ice cream shake!”  Ol salt dawg Russ responds,  “It’s not ice creams fault you are so soft”

Learn to be emotionally detached from objects and life will be easier.

Every time I go, I meet people from all over the county.  Sometimes from all over the world. They have traveled out to So Cal to climb in JT. I believe that alone makes it a destination area for climbers.

I don’t care if anyone cares just my observations in life. However, I believe you’d argue over why crayons have so many colors so...

Short answer marketing. Just like Jtree 14,000 routes (100 worth it) Lots of colors out there in crayon packs but wtf are some of those colors? Shit colors.

You meet people because social media blew that place up, birds of a feather flock together...especially ducks

You made several statements about JT, shitty rock, big crowds, not a climbing destination, get out and diversify. And so on.  The only thing I argued was whether or not it’s a climbing destination.  I think I proved my point. No doubt it’s a climbing destination.  I didn’t take up any other arguments. Yet here you say I’d argue over crayons? Obviously meaning I’ll argue just to argue.  Take a look in the mirror pal, is that a duck looking back at you?

Jtree is fucking garbage. Horrible rock and every crack is shallow, flaring, and never the right size for your hand. Might as well go climb seaside choss. Keep driving till you hit Red Rocks. Not worth the stop. Even the sunrises are terrible.

JTree is trash, there are no decent rocks more than a 1/4 mile from the road. Don't bother.

Why not just enjoy climbing for each area's qualities. Good or bad? I've never had a bad time climbing no matter what or where I'm climbing.. hope you can start to find beauty instead of negatives, your happiness will thank you
