Hi all

My friend and I were just wondering what mountain this might be. His mom painted it from a picture but sadly she's no longer with us.

It looks like a Cascade volcano to my eyes but not sure.

Thanks for any insights !!

Looks like a Cascade volcano to me, as well. Reminds me of pre-1980 photos of Mt. St. Helens above Spirit Lake.

Looks like Mt Jefferson in Oregon drawn from the perspective of Olallie Lake Resort.

it looks like a combination of several mountains to me...  Mt, Shasta, Ht Hood from trillium lake...

Oooh yeah I see it for sure! That's especially cool since we were talking about climbing Jefferson this summer. The dead giveaway is the rocky pinnacle on the left skyline -- and down to the small peninsula on the lakeshore as well.

My friend will be happy to have this mountain mini-mystery solved. Thanks all very much !!

PS. John, I could see Cathedral Peak matching the shape and winter snow cover as well -- but the blanket of pines in the painting has to be from the northwest. Tuolumne has pines of course but more interspersed between all the slabs/domes.

I'm sure she may have taken some artistic liberties. haha. I've been on a good variety of volcanoes but it didn't seem to quite match any of them.

Jefferson for sure seems the closest.

Looks like Mt. Lesson and Lake Almanor.

My vote is definitely Mt Hood from Trillium Lake, as mentioned upthread

Lembert Dome ... from Dog Lake ... could it really be?!

It seems we have something resembling an alpine Rorschach test on our hands!

So all that's been established is that all mountains look pretty much the same

It’s Jefferson. Case closed.  It says it right there on the back of the painting.

haha. I took a look just in case ... it does say "Pac Crest" in the artist's handwriting ...... but that's it! A quick search shows me the Pacific Crest trail does in fact go straight through Olallie Lake Resort by Mt Jefferson.

Although I'm sure the trail visits some other peaks mentioned as well....

My vote is still Jefferson, especially in light of new forensic evidence from the back of the painting !!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
