Just in case you want to die while learning to climb

I really hope this is an April Fools joke and I look stupid posting it. If not, this article could end up with someone dead.  This set of reviews has been referenced as recently as last November, so it isn't old news

Link removed to fight SkyNet. See follow up for article

Does anyone actually know how to contact the owner of this site, or the author? I'm guessing it isn't via contact@yoursite.com...

I trust in AI-generated sites for excellent price ranging and gear selections.

No but seriously though, I agree with the poster below me.  Don't go there and let the bots legitimize the bogus shit.

Yeah,  posted on March 29, 2019, so most likely an  Aprils Fools thing

, but Wow, that is something that seems stupidly dangerous.
If you look around, there are numerous (all) articles attributed to the same (Dangerous No0b) author; "Elizabeth Sparks"
Also really weird !; It says: "DMP Dead Head Magazine"...?

(any-one remember our successful action to Help Me Replace Aanif's Stiffy!,,, Replacing one of those crap Chinese pre-looped ropes with a good new cord? )

Most are for climbing the ropes in gym class. Climbing ropes vs climbing ropes, you feel me?

A couple look like they'd be sweet with a grappling hook. Or an overweight guy in a tight black T-shirt yammering on about "tactical".

OP maybe remove the link so that you don’t drive more traffic to that site?

This article pleads DO NOT go to this site, as it will convince Google's algorithm it is legit, and more people will see it and potentially hurt themselves.

OP thanks for sharing this info, but maybe remove the link from the original post? I clicked it out of curiosity and wish I hadn't.

Wow I've been doing it wrong all these years:

...there are cliffs where all the pitches are under 7 feet.

I'm buying the black diamond weave. How many falls can it take? Tryed to contact them for the info, but no response. Seems like a deal at half the cost.
Just want to top rope on it

Perhaps also leave a bad review on the Web Of Trust browser add-on. A lot of people use it to determine whether a site is trustworthy or not

I think you guys are underestimating the intelligence of new climbers. No one is going to buy this crap for leading on or even to top rope with.  The kernmantle stuff is fine for people who like to rappel (weirdo's).

If you go to anyplace that sells lead gear (QD's, trad pro) you can see that the price difference and just the appearance of the ropes are so different, only a complete idiot would use the stuff on the DPM website. And if you go ahead anyway, well, you maybe need to be removed from the gene pool.

So I shouldn't get the rope?

Obviously, this has nothing to do with the original Deadpoint magazine (which was run by NRG guidebook author Mike Williams)... That publication and website ceased operation a few years ago, but apparently, someone has determined it's lucrative to buy old domain names and use AI-generated bot content slightly related to the original site to try to garner a few ad clicks.

Ok I just ordered. Thanks Eric!

Eric Howe · · Cleveland, TN · Joined Mar 2019 · Points: 15

Moser.... I hope you didn't actually order.

Thought my sarcasm was clear, but in case it wasn't, nothing on that website should be used for climbing.  This includes the "black diamond weave", which I'm assuming is the "Wasons W 103-1B Diamond Braided Utility Rope" product.

Don't buy any of the garbage on that website for climbing.

Eric, c'mon of course Moser is being sarcastic.  Give a fellow MPer some credit.

Just for top roping. I dont see the problem. My buddy and I wanna figure things out. Got a few carabiners too. They had a good deal going

I use junk like what is being advertised to tie my boat to the dock, or to tie a load down in my truck.

Ohhh... well what should I get? I can always return it.

You should absolutely do whatever you want...since you've been a member on this site since 2009, I know you are kidding.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
