Thank you for starting this thread. It was a wonderful way to start my day, as I plan my first trip to Red Rocks. Lots of great humor!

Louie...

His people pick up his poop (sometimes even other's poop that is nearby). He never sprays beta (in fact, never makes a sound). Never leaves a rope hanging on a route he is not climbing. Doesn't gang-rope. Never leaves graffiti (paint or chalk).  Never brings his bluetooth speakers to 'share' his music. Doesn't pile up rocks for no reason. Doesn't trample vegetation. Doesn't fly a drone. Doesn't leave garbage  at the crag. Never has a loud tantrum when he doesn't send his project. He has never been witnessed belaying unsafely. Moves on if a crag is too crowded. Doesn't climb on wet rock.

...really one of the least annoying things at RR crags.

Eats his own shit when his people are not looking. Licks his balls whenever he feels like it then comes over and gives mommy a big wet kiss on the cheek.

And was probably bought at some puppy factory next door to the ASPCA
In my experience it’s always the people who say their dogs are perfect that have the asshole crag dogs the OP was complaining about.

Let's solve the big problems as much as we wallow in our own hedonism.  The plastic problem, the carbon problem, the mosquito problem, the Fredo Cuomo problem.  Can't we just care about the things that matter more than dogs?   America has a serious dog problem and it's a major net waste of resources.

My buddy’s ex girlfriend has a dog that went to the crag with us. He would protect our own bags from us. Seems as though once we left the bag for a while, the dog felt a need to protect it. This may explain why the little dog bit you.
I love dogs. One good dog at the crag is great.
Two dogs at the crag is usually too many.
The math leads me to the opinion that they should be left home.

My dog ate far more shit at the crag than he left.

Looks like Louie is breaking the "all dogs shall remain leashed" rule.

A dog sent my 5.13+ project while I rested, then peed on the start. Wouldn't have happened if he'd been on a leash.

@Lee Chandler The Dateline story is "If you use a gun, expect to go to jail." From the National Registry of Exonerations the story is "Self defense is OK." Which would you expect to get more press?
The dogs scattered after a Fish fired a warning shot. Kuenzli continued after the warning shot.

Most dogs are OK, but almost all need responsible owners to help them be good citizens. Kids too.

Take your dogs to the climbing gyms----otherwise leave them at home.

Not at the crag, but I routinely remind people they should put their dog on a leash, especially when I'm with my small kids.

People usually comply right away, and if not, they do after they notice the big knife on my waist.

See how that works?

Same thing in my neighborhood.  Couple has their big beautiful Rottweiler, very cool dog, but would put it on their tiny patio unleashed.  It would bark at my wife and small kids as they walked by, and I made time to visit the home and speak with the wife.  I explained my concern, and she agreed to make sure he was tied to something when they put him out there on the patio.  Next time I walk by with the kids, same story, but the husband is coming out of the patio door because he sees me.  He gets very defensive, says he's not going to tie the dog up to prevent him from getting out and attacking.

I stayed calm, and told him that it was unfortunate that he didn't want to follow the law.  I told him I'd been bitten by a leashed dog in the neighborhood recently, but was alone so I let it slide.  I then told him I lawfully carry a large knife, specifically for defending my family against crazy homeless guys and out of control dogs.  I said that I knew he loved that dog like family, and that I knew he wouldn't want anything bad to happen to it.

Strangely enough, if he even sees us on the sidewalk now and he's with his now-leashed dog, he 180's and goes around the block.  I appreciate that.

What state do you live in that has a law for mandating a dog be on a leash on it's owner's private property?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
