Any Recommendations? I have a 6 and 10 year old and a crash pad. We have been to Crab Town and Granite Creek before and had fun but I know there is more out there. Just looking to get some climbing in while visiting Carmel without doing any longer drives.

Oh right now it's all about the beautiful waterfalls in the redwoods!

Thanks Danny
Have you bouldered at Garrapata Creek? That sounds like a good spot to hit up that we haven’t tried yet.

As a Monterey/ Big Sur local, i can say that you’ll have more fun hiking. Contrary to what some people think, the climbing on the coast here is extremely limited and low quality. Crab town and Granite Creek can keep you busy for a little while, but it’s more just scrambling around. Partington Cove has some better stuff. If you walk along Garapata beach, you’ll find various highballs with pretty sharp holds, but good sand landings.

This boulder at Crab Town is kinda fun.

With a 6 and 10 year old “scrambling” defines most of what we do even at amazing climbing spots. Partington Cove is about an hour from Carmel right? Is traffic still horrible coming back up highway 1 later in the afternoon?

This time of year, when going that far down the coast i try to drive down early and return late. Has similar rush hour times to most places.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
